These ribs were delicious....however I used bottled bbq sauce (Sweet Baby Rays because I was in need of a quick meal prep. The ribs turned out extremely tender. I did put the ribs on a cookie sheet and spread them with more bbq sause and then stuck them under the broiler for a couple minutes to give it that off the grill crispness.

I also took the bbq sauce and dripping that were left in the crock pot and simmered them in a pot for a good 10-15 minutes to help is reduce down. This made a delicious dipping sauce (you may need to add a little water or broth....but I like really strong intense flavors so I didn't.

I too followed the recipe to a T, sorry, but with all that went in they came out very bland, but I will have to say they were tender. I cooked them for 6 hrs on low and about 2 on high. After spending $18.00 on the meat I was determined to save them. Took out of crock pot and brushed top with olive oil, sprinkled with fresh ground pepper, then brushed them with Stubs Bar B que sauce, and topped them with a sprinkle of kosher salt. I then placed them under broiler and to my suprise they came out wonderful. Looks like starting in the crock pot is not a bad thing, especially when it's too hot (100 degrees here today or cold for outdoor cooking. My husband loved them, he even compared the taste to his favorate local Bar B que place in Cibilo, TX.

For all the ingredients and spices, the ribs were disappointingly bland and pale. For more than 3 hours, the ribs bathed in their own fat, with none of the sauce clinging to them save for the few on top! If you like steamed porked, you will LOVE this recipe.

These ribs were not only good, but very easy to make. Recomend them if you're short on time and want to still serve a nice dinner.
