What a waste of money and time I followed this recipe perfectly and these were the most disgusting ribs we ever had. JUST NASTY flavor. Everthing about these were wrong.

I don't know why I bother with Robin's recipes any more. None have been very interesting. I agree with the other comments regarding lack of flavor in this one.

Tender yes! My failed attempts at preparing ribs tasted better. FOLLOWED the recipe exactly and found it to tasteless. BBQ sauce was able to salvage.

these ribs were very good tasting. I followed the hint of another comment and put onions in the bottom of the crock pot. The problem was, they did not look very appetizing. They kind of looked like boiled ribs with tomato sauce. I would make them again for my family, but we took them to a SuperBowl party and had to convince people that they actually tasted good.

Either Robin left out a critical step, or she has really lean ribs. I have always boiled my ribs in hot water for about 20 min. first to get all the fat off. That way they won't be so greasy in the end. I tried this recipe and it was a little bland. More like Spaghetti Ribs than BBQ. I would suggest putting a layer of sliced onions in the bottom, along with a couple of crushed garlic cloves, then add the ribs and the sauce items. Try some chipotle chili powder too, it seems to give any spicy dish an extra dash of flavor. A small can of tomato paste, some apple cider vinegar and more brown sugar will give folks that BBQ flavor they are looking for.

I tried what Cheryl did (09-16-09 and it really helped this recipe. O.k. these are not BBQ ribs but the sauce is no different than your basic sauce which can be found in a book entitled 'Paul Kirk's Championship Barbecue Sauces'. Most homemade BBQ sauces have brown sugar, chili powder, white vinegar ,soy sauce and ketchup.. plus a few more things thrown in. Robin's sauce has all of these ingredients. I tasted my ribs ( I too used Country Ribs after 7 hours and thought they were very good. I let them sit in my crock pot for another hour which made them to me a little too tender. I like my ribs with a little bite in them. I threw in some hot peppers also to "kick it up a notch' My wife said that these were the best ribs that I have ever made. The left-over sauce was excellent on my pasta too.I really like all of the Foodnetwork chefs but there out two chefs out there worth checking out and that is the one mentioned earlier( Paul Kirk and Steven Raichlen. Both of these gentleman have great books out on Barbecue and Grilling.

While the meat was super tender, the sauce totally boring and lacking in any real flavour - use your own recipe for sauce, hype up the seasoning or use a commercial sauce you like.
