Ingredients

  • 1 pound linguine
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound calamari, sliced into rings
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans pasta sauce with roasted garlic (recommended: Hunt's)
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • Chopped fresh basil leaves, optional

Directions

Cook linguine according to package directions.

Heat oil over medium heat in a large skillet and a small saucepot. To both, add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add calamari to the skillet and cook 2 minutes. Then to both, add pasta sauce and crushed red pepper flakes and bring to a simmer. Simmer 3 to 5 minutes, until calamari is tender. Reserve tomato sauce in the saucepot for another meal.

Transfer linguine to a serving platter. Spoon all of the calamari and tomato sauce over linguine. Garnish with basil, if desired.

Awful, in the garbage. First time ever I through a dinner away. The Hunt's tomato sauce, no good. It look so great on TV,... no one liked it. Looked over all reviews, all were good, not Italian at all. Read more

    pan seared calamari with linguini

I used frozen calamari and Paul Newmans Sweet garlic and tomato sauce, I didn't quite follow the directions, because I never... do, but it was wonderful. I sauted the garlic, onion and red pepper and then added the quick thaw method for the frozen linguini, for two-three mins and then added the sauce, plus a teaspoon of vanills, a dash of cinnamon and a teaspoon, or so of Old Bay seasoning....WE ALL LOVED IT> And Boy do I have picky meat and potatoe eaters here!!!Read more

    Super tasty and amazingly quick

This was so good! I was a little afraid of cooking calamari as I have never made it before - but it was so easy and came out... perfectly. And I really can't believe how quickly everything cooked. Making the sauce only took about six minutes and prep was only two minutes or so (it would have been less if my calamari was already sliced) - so next time I will put the water on and wait to do the prep until the water is almost boiling. The whole family (including my grade school daughter) loved it!Read more
