Our family really liked this recipe. We used risoto instead of orzo. The chestnuts were hard to find, but overall we would make it again.

I agree with the other reviewer - this dish does not have much flavor and is very watery. I was really disappointed because when I read the list of ingredients I thought it would be delicious. On a side note, I substituted walnuts because I couldn't find chestnuts either and it was fine. I really wanted to love this dish!

I also disagree with the comments that this recipe wasn?t flavorful? I felt it had far too much flavor, even though I didn?t use shallots (I don?t like onion flavors, sherry (I replaced it with more chicken broth, or chestnuts (I searched the grocery store 3 times & couldn?t find them. It wasn?t a difficult recipe, but while I like mushrooms, I found the porcini mushroom flavor to be overpowering. While I didn?t like it, my husband and 13-month old baby boy really liked it. My husband tends to like heavily spiced foods, while I like much more bland foods, and my baby would eat anything I cook! Believe it or not, I also couldn?t find orzo at Shoprite, so I substituted rice. I definitely won?t be making this recipe again!

I replaced the porcini mushrooms with green peppers since my husband hates mushrooms. It was great! I disagree that it wasn't flavorful. It was wonderful!

This was fantastic. A total surprise. Keys: season it well with s/p both on the chick. and the sauce, use chicken broth to cook orzo in, I didn't have chestnuts so substituted PRUNES at the last minute and that sealed the deal - it was an unbelievable combo. Used 1/2 porcini, 1/2 morel mush, as that's what we had. Totally flavorful and easy - not sure what the other cooks did to make it bland - this rocks.

very easy to make. My family did not like the Orzo thought rice would have been better. Did not like the texture of the chestnuts and could not really taste them. Could have more flavor. I followed the recipe to the T.

We really enjoyed this dish. It was very easy and enjoyable to make. My only problem was I coudln't find any chesnuts. I guess they are pretty seasonal so we used hazelnuts. It was delicious!

I felt compelled to write a review since I had already purchased chestnuts and planned to make the meal and then read a few bad reviews. We had it for dinner tonight and it was delicious. I made it just as the recipe says and served it over rice with peas instead of with the orzo. My family loved it and will make it again. It was simple to make. I actually made this with 2 kids under 2 running around the house because I had prepped the ingredients before hand. The chestnuts add a unique flavor and texture. I'm wondering if the people that didn't like this dish used water chestnuts?? This was great!

I followed this recipe to the T and it was a complete disappointment. It literally had no flavor what so ever. In addition, I spent quite a while tracking down canned chestnuts and had to fork over $8.00 for them. I felt that they did not add anything to the dish. This was the first recipe of Robin's that I tried and I am not sure that I would ever try another.

Never used Robin's recipe before, but decided to try this chicken recipe. Used dried shiitake rather than porcini (I always have dried shiitake, and omitted chesnuts (didn't have one. I used cornstarch to thicken the sauce since I added a little more broth than called for. I used the water from rehydrating shiitake, and disolved chicken base as chicken broth. It was really tasty and easy! Thank you, Robin!!
