I made this beer bread for dinner tonight and increased the salt as another reader suggested. I used a harps lager and the bread tasted like a cross between intense wheat and hops. I have had other beer breads that were far better than this. Maybe I'll try again by adding a little more sugar & using a lite beer instead. I think the type and flavor of the beer matters.

A great bread for it's type; extremely easy to make, and the beer flavor comes through in the final product. Like the other writer said, increase the amount of salt.

It just seemed flavorless. We are definitely gonna stick with Paula's recipe for Bubba's Beer Bread Biscuits....which you can make into bread as well. They are sweeter and have more flavor. I would have made those because they are fast with biscuit mix but I was out.

I'm a long time bread baker (and eater!. I baked this bread today because I didn't have yeast or self rising flour. I find that the bread is heavy and very tender. But, it's very, very tasty! Recipe tastes a little shy on salt for me, so salt lovers, add what you normally do to your bread recipes and it'll be great!

I couldn't believe how much this quick bread tasted like home baked bread prepared the time-comuming way.
It took just a few moments to put the ingredients together.
It tastes most like home baked bread using a really lite tasting beer.

I loved this bread. Great compliment to soup or just dinner in general.

This bread was very easy to make. It came out moist and tasty. Put a little butter on it and it's good to go. The family liked it as well. I will make it again.

My first attempt ever at making bread. Stunk up the place in a wonderful way!
I'd like a better crust and depending on what your going to do with it, it is a bit heavy.
Family loved it, especially with lots of butter!

This bread was very easy to make but tastes like stale beer.
A waste of a good lager.
