Not judging on the "traditional" "not traditional" mole topic, but judging on taste alone, My husband and I would say this was very good with one tweek. I followed the recipe exactly first to see what it needed. Those that said it was missing something...they were right. It's almost like it needed a little extra punch. The secret ingredient??? Chipotle flavored Tabasco sauce! Whether you add it to the recipe or just garnish the top with it, it gives it that extra flavor that was missing. Will definatley make again.

I did like this recipe and loved that I had a new way to use up a Rotisserie chicken... but I think other chili recipes have more substance and flavor. Check out my blog for a full review - randomactsoffood.blogspot

Great go-to recipe, especially if serving to a big crowd, that I've used over and over. And my husband loves the flavors. I've made a few adjustment: use a can of chipotle peppers (seeded and chopped fine instead of jalapeno, use 1/2 tsp cumin plus 1/2 tsp oregano plus 1/2 tsp garlic salt plus 1/2 tsp paprika instead of the chili seasoning, use 1/2 tsp cinnamon instead of 1/4 tsp, and add 5 minced garlic cloves when you add the onions. I've doubled the recipe, frozen it right after adding the chocolate, then defrosted it and served it to 16 ladies with basmati rice on the side plus a salad. Got rave reviews for a circle luncheon, then for my son's friends!

I made this recipe and my husband and I agree it is not a mole. You do not add scallions and cheddar cheese to mole. It is not even chili, where scallions and cheddar cheese would be appropriate. I am not sure what this recipe is, but I am not going to make it again. Sorry to be negative, but it is just not worth a try. I would just like to save others from the disappointment.

Robin ; This is not Mexican Mole. I hate to be negative but this was not even close to being. Please do more research on Mexican cooking.

I made it exactly as indicated except I forgot the cinnamon. I did remember the chocolate, though. My husband loved the spicyness of it and I loved the ease of making it. The next time I make it I will double the recipe as we love more leftovers especially good chili. This is a good chili if you want something different without sacrificing spice.

I enjoyed this recipe, although next time I will omit the cinnamon. I didn't have any beer, so I put in some chicken broth instead which turned out great. I also used seven single cloves of garlic instead of what the recipe calls for. I didn't top with the chocolate or shallots, just the cheese. I also bought jalapenos in the jar that were already chopped instead of having to chop them. All in all, my husband and I really enjoyed this and will definitely make it again. If you like a sweet aftertaste, then keep the cinnamon.

Watching this on TV made my mouth water. I can't wait to try it despite
the few low reviews I've read. The opposing reviews, Yay's and Nay's
are hilariouly entertaining. Fantastic Culinary controversy !

I know she tries to be healthy, but that miniscule amount of protein is pathetic.

I saw this episode and thought this dish would be delicious! I followed it to the T, and I could only manage eating a few bites of it. Not good at all, unless you really enjoy the flavor of chili powder. Adding that whole packet was a mistake and probably should have been self made with my own spice blend. YUCK!!!
