This was fabulous. We altered the recipe slightly for my dad (can't have spicy and for us (we dont eat pork. We used turkey sausage instead. My dad is the pickiest eater and my mom is very health conscietious. THEY LOVED IT!! My mom went back for seconds and my dad cleaned his bowl. He woke up the next day and said, "that was a great meal!" My husband and 13 yr old daughter loved it as well. We loved it so much we're making it again this week and freezing some. You can't go wrong with this recipe. Its so healthy and wonderful. I HATE OKRA but dont you dare leave it out of this recipe.. it is what gives it so much flavor...AWESOME ROBIN!!! We added 1 extra chicken breast and 1 extra cup of tomato juice to increase the servings to feed more. Robin, everything we fix of yours is healthy, flavorful and easy... WE LOVE YOU!!! THIS IS GREAT FOR COMPANY, CAMPING, and I can't wait for Winter to come for someting new to eat to warm us up!!!

Easy to make but needed a few adjustments. I added garlic (3 cloves, mincedand I used 3 links of sausage instead of two and I used the whole bag (16ozof frozen cut okra. Great taste even though a little heat comes with it.

My husband and I weren't very fond of this recipe. It was "okay". It was fun to make, but the flavor was not that great. I didn't even like the smell of it while it cooked. I won't be making it again.

I haven't made this yet, but with a couple adjustments, this very much sounds like "Smothered Okra." Which is what I am looking for a recipe for.

I am just wowed when i read some of the reviews here. For those of you who gave it a 1 and said "THERE IS NO WAY THIS STUFF IS GUMBO"....did you even fix the dish? Because its not real gumbo in what you think of gumbo does that mean its not good? How would you know since you probably never made it. Like what we call mexican food in most places in the US is not mexican food. Does this mean that it is not good? If someone wants to make it more like traditional gumbo then they could probably make a dark roux the night before you make it and add that to the pot to make it more traditional but i think robin tries to add a more healthy spin on a lot of recipes and that would defeat the purpose. Its better than a lot of places around where i live (central IL. They throw okra into vegetable soupo and call it gumbo. By the way, i do make traditional gumbo and no this is not traditional gumbo. Its still pretty good. I made it for the work week for work week and i very much enjoyed it. Thanks Robin.
