I had low expectations. Been trying to make tasty food in my slow cooker, and this is easy and tastes decent. I added an extra 1/3 of each spice and extra okra based on the negative reviews posted previously. I also added a few cloves of frozen garlic. It may work to just add the spice in the last hour or so to get better flavor.
I am not from Louisiana nor the South, and I don't much care about "authentic" gumbo or the appearance of such. It tastes good over rice, and is spicy and family friendly and easy to make.

this is not a gumbo. it is unflavored and no wheres near a gumbo. this is not what we want people to think louisiana food is. louisiana food has so much more flavor. you didn't even make a roux!! take it from someone that is a born and raised cajun from south louisiana. this is not gumbo!!
