It's a good thing I didn't read the negative reviews of this recipe before trying it. I followed the recipe exactly (only exception was using regular instead of low sodium soy sauce so then I omitted the additional salt the recipe called for, cooked it about 2.5 hours on high and another 3 or so hours on low and the results were a moist, fork tender roast and yummy veggies and sauce. I agree with those that said this is not the usual Asian sweet and sour, but found it to be more like traditional German style cooking sweet and sour. I did thicken the sauce with a small amount of cornstarch to make it more like a gravy. This is going in my permanent favorites file.

Bland, bland, bland. Meat was dry and potatoes weren't cooked all the way.

My husband and I both really liked this. When he got home from work he said the house smelled like his grandma's kitchen - which was a compliment. : I cooked it for about 5 hours on high, because some of the other reviews said it needed more time, and it probably was done around 4 hours. I'll definitely make this again and try to save some of the meat for pulled pork, but it may not last long enough!

My husband will eat pretty much anything and he asked me never to make this again. I completely agreed... I would never make it again.

I thought it was very good. Pork was very tender and fell apart. I had it on high for 4 hours. I used Idaho potatoes since Yukons are know to take a long time to get tender. My husband suggested to use duck sauce instead of ketchup next time to get a better sweet/sour flavor. My husband liked it a lot and he's extremely critical of what I cook............I would make it again for sure.
