I am only half way through cooking this recipe. I am mostly going by "inspired by" this recipe method.

    I started by substituting:
suggested lettuce leaf selections -> a pre mixed bag of mixed lettuce leafs.
peanut sauce -> made my own (food processor peanuts with oils and kosher salt then added in peanut sauce ingredients.
flank steak -> new york strip steak... it was all i had.
topped off garnish with a sesame seed sprinkle

I mainly did follow the spirit of the recipe, which is what i love about this recipe. It is an amazing structure where you can easily swap out items to your own taste.

I've seen some reviewers really trash this recipe, including one unfortunate person who was upset because the beef wasn't cooked to her liking...so COOK IT SOME MORE!

I agree with reviewers that the peanut sauce doesn't have nearly enough peanut taste. I added 3/4 c. peanut butter instead of the 1/4 c. to the original sauce, included in the same episode under the stir-fried shrimp recipe.

Then, I just like my steak cooked. Maybe not the most cosmopolitan, but that's just me. Instead of Robin's suggested 4 minutes, I actually cooked it 12. I would actually advocate dressing and tossing the salad before adding the dressing, and then sprinkling some additional sauce on the beef. It was so good! I will definitely be making this one again...soon!

I watched the show so I knew she made a big batch of the sauce. Problem was the sauce tasted mostly like broth. I used beef broth instead of chicken and added an extra tablespoon of peanut butter, yet the flavor was still not a rich as other's I have had. I was very disappointed.

This flank steak was served so rare that looking at it made me sick. Can't believe she promotes serving bloody beef. Gross

My "afraid of new foods" husband loved this. I made the whole series of recipes from the "Thai One On" series and we really enjoyed all of them. I did make a few changes. I used the leftover cherry tomatoes from the Mango Red Onion Salad for this salad. When I made the peanut sauce, I doubled the peanut butter.

We ended up making it with a regular steak instead of the skirt steak, but it was great! I would add a bit more lime to the peanut sauce next time, just because I like acidic dressings : I love that I really was able to complete the recipe in the time it says even if I hadn't done any pre-chopping; especially after a long day.

She actually does make her own peanut sauce...you have to click on the recipe for Peanutty Somen Noodles with Shrimp and she makes a big batch of peanut sauce and then uses some of it for this recipe. I haven't tried this, but I noticed others were confused as well and thought I would try to help.

Very easy to make, used the peanut lime sauce from Ellie Krieger's Aromatice Noodles & Lime Peanut Sauce recipe. Easy to make, tasted great. 4 stars b/c I am disappointed she didn't make her own sauce and provide a recipe but Ellie's worked fabulous.
