This is an outstanding version of a simple and absolutely delicious classic sauce. With an addition of garlic, it tasted just like my Italian grandma and aunts used to make. Sometimes the simple, classic dishes are the best, as opposed to what the previous reviewer though.

I do use about 1-1/2 lbs. sausage when making it for a thicker, meatier sauce, and I sometimes add meatballs also. It also freezes very well.
