I just made this cake and it is extremely moist and dense, and I must say I truly love it, I made it as a layer cake with basic cream cheese frosting and it was absolutely delicious. In my memory, the most moist dense cake I have ever had! When I make this again, I will be adding more zest as I really like the flavor and would like it to be more pronounced.

After seeing the show I thought i would try this recipe. I eat grapefruit every morning and after making this recipe I was suprised really how good it really was and very easy to make. I have read up on Melinda and am very impressed with her. I feel that if her oven was working right she would have won the contest. I can't wait to try the other recipe of the mini bunt cakes . Keep up the good work

It's obvious that most of the people posting here have not made the cake at all, but are friends of the recipe's author, Melinda. While it's nice that they support their friend, they are not doing Melinda any favors. Giving 5-star reviews just because you're friends is as bad as people who give 1-star reviews just because they have something against the chef. Your intentions may be good, but you're being unfair to Melinda by assuming her ratings need to be artificially inflated, and to the people who come here expecting legitimate reviews.

Who could think that such a combo of sweet and tart could be so harmonizing? Melinda, in our Rheumatoid Arthritis forum where we met - where instantly I knew you were as brave as I attempt to be, every day of my life, WOW! This is delicious. Not just delicious, it is what sent my family to war over the last slice. And I thought you were a friend!

Melinda Winner, Winner you are. I have shared so much with you, how this debilitating disease can either push us into an early form of not living at all, or to a challenge of becoming stronger and reaching out to the world about our disease.

The love you have given me through your understanding has been the shining light in this delectable and addictive cake. Your presence on National TV as the most earthy and human great soul on this earth is ethereal. You are raw, honest and pure. Just like the delicious recipe I was blessed with.

GREAT TASTING RECIPE. Do they have 6 stars?******

On top of all that you are, your recipe really was the icing on the cake!!!!

    "TWO CAKES IN ONE DAY!"

Melinda, I have made two of these cakes since I have seen your show, all in the same day. I know my family loved it so much that my son asked me to make it for him to take to work for today's admin meeting. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that we were routing for you all the way thru the show and are very sorry that something happened, there really isn't enough time to fix your ingredients and bake, but I guess they check all your ovens etc. But you should go back on for other show downs because something wasn't really going like it was supposed to, am I right on this? Just a feeling we had while watching the showdown. You had a lot of grace and class even tho there was a problem. I want to know where I can tell my relatives where to get a zillion cookbooks, for our church members and work staff. I thank you from our big family to yours, bless you and keep cooking and helping other handicapped people go on.
    Your "Greatest Fan!"

I would have never thought to use grapefruit in a cake until I saw Melinda's recipe. It came accross on screen as a moist and beautiful cake, a great presentation! And to do all the prep work with your RA? My dear, you are not only a fine person as well as a great chef, but you are brave beyond words! Delivering meals is as honorable as they come and we can all learn more from your tireless efforts! Keep going strong and I look forward to making this cake! Congatulations and I definately think you are a Winner!!!

I tried this cake today... I got together with a friend, and got it put together... we had to cook it slightly longer, probably due to oven difference... we even glazed it hot out of the oven as Melinda did...

We loved the combination of citrus and banana... I am not a grapefruit eater, but loved the flavour...

I am planning on making another sometime this week to bring in to the office for a treat for everyone...

Way to go Melinda on a Winner of a recipe in my book! It's a keeper! I am even sending this to my Mum back in Massachusetts... bet she'll love it...

Keep up the great work, Melinda! Kudos to you!

Ok, NULL, you try this. I give Melinda all the credit in the world for this recipe.
Seems like NULL has NULL self esteem to put down such a hard worked recipe and a wonderful person who is handicapped, like Melinda.
    God Bless you, Melinda.
The Lord takes his own, and throws away all the others.
May God Bless NULLLLLL too, since you obviously need it.
    Cheers!
