I watched Sandra make this recipe the other day and since it is apple season, I thought that I would give it a try. The recipe was easy to make, and I had all of the ingredients on hand. I used my own apple pie filling and added i more egg. I had some low sugar instand oatmeal on hand so I used that. This is really a low sugar, low fat recipe. I also use a little brandy instead of the extract. This recipe has a mild flavor, so if you like more cinnamon or maybe even nutmeg that would be good in it too. The sauce really gave it the perfect zing. I think this recipe would be a great idea for breakfast or dessert for dinner. Give it a try we loved it!

I saw her make this and I (a non-cook had to try it. It came out perfectly! The almonds gave it a nice crunch, and it was so moist. I ditched the sauce and I don't think it could have improved it. I'm ready for my next recipe.

I found this recipe in Sandra's cookbook and when we took the first bit found in way to salty. Checked on line and found the the cookbook had a misprint to use 1/2 teaspoon salt instead of the 1/4 teaspoon. Don't know if I would use the sauce again any way. Think I'll stick to whipped topping. Other than that not too bad.

I made this for Christmas morning brunch. I was really nervous after reading some of the bad reviews, but it came out great. Everyone loved it. It cooked in 2 hours on high just like the recipe said.
I did make a few modifications to the recipe. First, I used vanilla extract instead of rum extract. Also, I used a low sugar version of the instant oatmeal to reduce a bit of the sweetness. I bought a good quality, fresh raisin bread. I think the type of bread you use could really make a difference. Also, I skipped the sauce and made homemade whipped cream with just a touch of sweetness and a hint of vanilla.
I would definitely make this again.

My husband caught this on TV and thought it looked so wonderful, he downloaded the recipie and went out and bought the goods for it. I had this bad, bad feeling about instant oat meal and canned apple pie filling, but went ahead and made it just to humor him. This was a baaaad, baaaad pudding. Really baaaad. He had one taste of it and the rest went in the disposal.

well, I guess I should've expected a sauce made of cream soda and dream whip to taste like... chemicals. just make some whipped cream instead.
