I boiled cabbage for 12 minutes, but it was still not long enough. After 1 1/2 hrs of baking the leaves were still too hard and the meat slipped out of the rolls. I used Newman's spaghetti sauce garlic flavor. The taste was pretty good, but not how I thought it should be. Maybe after reheating tomorrow it will be better. I'll boil cabbage longer next time and see if it helps. Also will use 1 egg not 2. The meat was hard as a rock and not fork tender. My hubby liked them so I'll give them another try with modifications.

I didn't read ingredient quantities until "after" shopping. I used one can stewed tomatoes, one of diced tomatoes, one 24 oz. jar Bertolli's onion, garlic, oregano sauce and followed the rest of the recipe. I had to go back and put an additional Tbs. of filling in each of the eight rolls to use up all the lb. of meat. I also cooked it 1 1/2 hours. I used a heavy cookie sheet under the casserole to catch the overflow. My spouse loved it! It's a keeper. Probably cut the recipe in 1/2 next time. YUM!

I would make it like a casserole, cooking the burger first. Even thou I used lean meat it was still to greasy for me.

This recipe was fairly easy but the end result was not the best. Althought the rolls were soaking in juice, the meat was like a brick. The tomatoes had an uncooked taste to them. I also needed to cook the rolls twice as long as the recipe called for so that the meat wasn't pink in the middle. I don't think I'll be making this one again....sorry Aunt Peggy and Uncle Bill.
