i think that the porkchops may possibly turn out good if they are cooked correctly. but lika another person said everyones' oven dont cook tha same so i think that it would b up to u to guessta mate what temop to put ur meat on. and i do have to admitt that the sweet potatoes and pears sounds like that is jus too much and possibly nasty......

I don't use the herbs. All of these flavors go great together. Our family loves sweet potatoes. It is also super easy...I can get home from work at 4:30 and we can be eating by 5:15. I use canned pears when I'm in a hurry. I also make the pear/potatoes during nap time if I know we have a busy evening on the days I stay at home.

I have a brand new GE Profile oven and it took double the cooking time suggested for 3/4 inch pork chops. This recipe would better suit thin breakfast chops better. Like everyone else has commented, the pork chops should have been a separate recipe from the apple/pear dish.

Found this recipe while looking for a recipe for baked pork chops. I made it because I actually had all of the ingredients handy, save for the herbs de provence. Very easy and quick to put together, and played games with the kids while dinner cooked.
Substitutions were made as follows: ***3 fresh sweet potatoes cut into chunks were used instead of the canned, and my pears were huge, but I used three to balance the combo. I ended up with enough for a 9x13 pan, but didn't double the topping. Soooooo good! The kids ate it up! Didn't have herbs de provence, since I'm not a rosemary fan, so used italian seasoning instead, which only lacked the rosemary, fennel and savory. Baked on the rack, the pork chops were tender and juicy, with a crispy coating. It took an additional 15 minutes to cook the pork chops to doneness, they were thicker than called for. Very easy, very delicious and low on fat and sugar. This recipe will be made again and again!

I made these dishes for a dinner party I had. It was a hit. Everyone LOVED the pork. I really enjoyed the pear and yam dish, however two of my guests did not. My husband asked me to definatley make the pork chops again.

This is now one of my favorite dinners! The pork chops were tender and flavorful with just the right amount of breading and the sweet potato/pear combination was great.

I didn't care for the Pork Chops, but the Sweet Potatoes, without the pears, was great. I think that the two recipes should have been seperate.

I followed the recipe exactly and served a dry, poorly seasoned dish.We did enjoy the pears but it was more like a desert than entree.

So many had problems with this recipe, I thought it was quick and easy, perfect for a busy day. The recipe says to use Italian Bread Crumbs not Italian dressing, as some of you have stated. If you had trouble with the desired doneness of the pork, the recipe tells you to bake to your desired degree of doneness. Not everyones oven bakes the same. Nowhere in this recipe does it say that the sweet potatoes are a "souffle"
I'm a very busy person and I appreciate all the short cuts Sandra has to offer.
