This is the first recipe I tried from Sandra Lee. I was a little hesitant about making this meal. I have to say, my ENTIRE family loved it which is amazing! Sandra is obviously a magician!! My husband and I have three daughters with three very different palettes and they all loved the meal. I cheated on the amounts and saved a little extra meat for the round two recipe (to make for dinner for 5 instead of lunch for 2. Everybody loved the pitas as much as they loved the kebabs! BRILLIANT!! I am so tired of wasted food and am thrilled to find Sandra's money saving recipes with the added bonus of being able to turn the leftovers into another meal. I have her bacon and mushroom quiche in the oven right now. Will let you know how that one goes!

The recipe was simple and easy to follow. It's aroma was mouthwatering. It's taste was so savory. But... the bargain saving meat turned out tough. So much for saving money. I had had the butcher cut the meat up for me at no extra cost. I marinated the meat over night as suggested. All went well. But the meat ended up a flavorful shoe. I'll keep the recipe on hand for a better, more expensive cut of meat.

I definately agree with three of the other reviewers - loved the marinade, it was delicious and easy and the flavor was fantastic! The meat did not make it to the pita stage, I used the entire recipe for the kabobs!! My husband loved it and I will be making this again. I think the marinade can be used for any meat and I plan on trying it with chicken next!

Oh my goodness, this was wonderful and simple. Loved it! Did it as a kabob and again as a pita. Both FAB!
I did double the sauce recipe- used it as a dip for veggies also. YUM!

So I tweaked this some and made pitas out of it (blending her 2nd day recipe and loved it. My boyfriend ate it as a Kabob and LOVED it. The couscous that goes with it is the best I've ever made.

I was really excited to try this recipe. I made the marinade on Sunday and let it sit overnight so it would be ready when I came home from work on Monday. My family and I had not tried couscous before and we enjoyed it. I did increase the amount of garlic in the couscous as well ( I LOVE GARLIC. This couscous had good flavor. I'm not sure how large of a serving it was supposed to make but I ended up with a full cup per person plus leftover for the round 2 recipe. 1 cup per person seemed to be overkill. All of us had some left on our plates. I also think it could have been jazzed up a little more. Maybe saute some onion with the garlic. The meat was okay but I expected more flavor. I even used 3 cloves of garlic in the marinade instead of just one. Definitely not as good as it had sounded or as I had hoped for. Would have enjoyed some more cooked vegies to mix with the couscous and meat. That might have helped. I do like the idea of using leftovers in the pita's and may try this with my regular marinade that I use for Beef Kabobs.

This was very good. The flavor was fantastic. The couscous was a little spicy for my taste so next time I will use less red pepper flakes. Both my kids who are very picky eaters loved the couscous. I of course toned it down for them because of the red pepper flakes. We will definately make again.
