    Sorry, this one did not fly. The sauce ruined it. Meat was tender, but no one finished it because of the flavor of the sauce with the roast.

    Despite the bad reviews, I decided to make this anyway. It was very easy and the beef was tender .... but ... the meat itself was quite tasteless and we really did not like the sweet tomato sauce. The sauce was just too sweet and too much like pasta sauce for our taste. In fact, if it was a bit less sweet, it might be good as a lasagna sauce or something. It was a poor accompanyment to roast beef, I am afraid.

    The sweet tomato sauce just overpowers everything in this recipe. It would probably be a lot better if you substituted for the pasta sauce.

    My family rarely dislikes roast beef as much as they hated this recipe. The sweet spagetti sauce was horrible.

    I love this recipe! I have made this several times, and each time it gets rave reviews. Reading some of the negative reviews posted here, I wonder if maybe the reason they didn't like it is because of the pasta sauce they use. I have used Classico Tomato and Basil, and it has been perfect everytime, even when I am running late from work and it winds up cooking for over 10 hours. I usually serve this over egg noodles, and it is a great dish to serve on a cold rainy/snowy day. Thanks Sandra!
