I thought these tasted really good and they were beyond easy to make! I understand that they may not be a traditional beignet like in New Orleans, but they are still a pretty delicious snack! I don't know why everyone is getting bent out of shape about it. If you don't like her, her show, or her recipes, then don't watch! Simple as that!

I am not from Louisiana, but I feel pains when I see beignets that are done incorrectly. Canned biscuit dough does not equal doughnut-type dough. Biscuits don't tend to be all that sweet (in my experience at least with canned and homemade biscuits... and then there's the sauce. The sauce! Sauce does not go on beignets. Maybe Aunt Sandy should do some research on her recipes first instead of slinging around store-bought ingredients and trying to pass them off as authentic. /rant

I gave this three stars because the recipe was not up when I posted this review. I'm sure when I actually read the recipe, I will give it five stars. I am concerned that those using Po'boys as weapons are actually making fun of this recipe in some fashion. I have not determined how they are doing so, yet, but when I do, I shall mark their reviews as "unhelpful".

I don't know a thing about Beignets, but I DO KNOW BISCUITS! I can't imagine anything more delightful than frying those little beasties. Sign Me Up!

On an aside, one of the posters mentioned a pulled duck po-boy. Part of me wonders about the effectiveness of a po-boy as a cudgel. Another part of me wonders how tasty that po-boy would have been with a topping of Sandra Lee's delightful Cabbage Slaw !!!

I AGREE WITH ALL POSTERS BELOW! You know who you are. Let me tell you a little story about this recipe. I was headed to the Jazz Fest when my ice chest fell out of the back of the truck and spilled all over the neutral ground. I stopped and cleaned it up, replaced the ice, and then waited in line for about 5 minutes for a pulled duck po boy from Jacques-Imo's. Another patron in line there made a rude comment about Sandra Dee's beignet recipe as I was leaving, and I reflexively whacked them over the head with my pulled duck sandwich, spilling about half of it on the floor. That half a duck po boy was half a duck po boy I could've eaten if I'd only kept my cool. The lesson is obvious--we all need to get along better. I regretted my actions, and offered them a beer to patch things up. The ones I offered were some of the ones that were scuffed up and punctured, but it was still a welcomed gesture.

So easy to make and delish! I'm amazed at all the rude comments about Sandra. The folks who left rude remarks should be ashamed of themselves. I thought southerners were polite???? Keep on keeping it simple & semi- homemade Sandra! You rock!

I already had beignet mix, and I was looking for a raspberry sauce that had ingredients that I already had in my fridge. This turned out very nice and fresh, my brunch guests really enjoyed it. I've frozen the leftover sauce for another date. I didn't have the sieve to get the seeds out, but I did have some wire mesh around that I'd used for a craft project. I just placed it on top of a bowl and poured the raspberry sauce through. This worked pretty well.

Maybe if Sandra spend less time getting excited about 'COCKTAIL TIME' and spent an extra minute or two researching she could have pulled off a coup for her cooking abilities. I guess the bottomless alcohol supply kept that from happening. What's tomorrows cocktail from Louisiana, a King Cake Collins?
