I didn't have any cilantro, and I struck out trying to buy it at two different stores, so I used ground coriander and added a little cumin to boot. We spread a little light sour cream on top, and my fiance said it was one of the best dinners we've had in a while. Our sides: fresh corn and mac/tuna salad. What a nice, healthy dinner!

My family loved this recipe, it was so simple. I had no difficulty with the burger falling apart. I did the flipping just as Sandra suggested in the show. Healthy, easy, and inexpensive this recipe is perfect for families.

We thought they tasted good, but maybe needed a bit more "oomph"

They fell apart on the grill though. And I made them EXACTLY as per the recipe.

We used a gas grill not a Foreman because the Foreman steams not grills the food. We lost a lot of the burger throiugh the grates.

I made this recipe and fell in love with it. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and it was great. The 2nd and 3rd time I put my own twist on like we all tend to do. I used yellow corn meal and also added corn for more texture. Instead of eating it like a hamburger I added fat free sour cream and salsa, it was superb. The third time I made rice and added fresh tomatoes (boiled, drained and smashed a bit and diced jalepenos and it was terrific. I suggest this to any one who is watching their waistline or for someone who wants to try something a little different than the same old burgers were used to seeing.

I used a jumbo egg and panko bread crumbs. It held together very well on the stove top. The cilantro, galic and bean flavors are really good. I wil make this and the enchiladas frequently!

These were great! Not to mention super cheap!!! Especially for a health conscious college student! I made the sweet potato fries to go along with them, they were delicious as well. I also made an avocado ranch sauce to go with the burgers. I took 1 avocado, 1/4 cup mayo, 8 oz. sour cream and half a packet of hidden valley ranch dip mix, mixed it all up and put it on the buns! My friends loved it! I will definitely be making this recipe again soon! :

Wow!! We thoroughly enjoyed these "burgers"!! We normally eat black beans whole or refried, so finding a new, sassy way to serve them was truly worth taking the chance on them.
The consistency was great for forming patties & they held up well. I grilled them on the Foreman & they came out with light char marks. We served them up just like regular ol hamburgers...tomato, mayo, lettuce & some cheese, some fries. My four year old loved them!! He simply stated, "Mom, I like these hama-burgers... Esp with the beans..". Not realizing for a moment there wasnt any hamburger in it!
Thank you Sandra for a great non-meat recipe!! its a great inexpensive, healthy meal!!!

(My cost for this rang in @ $3.21!!! I've NEVER been able to do that!!!

I love black beans and I am always looking for new ways to use them. They are so good for you and taste so good too. This recipe is wonderful and easy to make and budget friendly, quick to make and mostly tastes great! I hope Sandra brings more entrees like this to her new show. I love meat but every night is too much and I am always looking for new recipes! Good job Sandra!

I had never tried black bean burgers before and these were very easy and surprisingly good. They did taste a little like refried beans but with all the fixings, they were great. Try the round 2 recipe, also easy and good!
