I make this all the time and the almond extract makes this recipe! I won't make brussels sprouts any other way now.

I loved this recipe. I left out the almond extract because it just sounded too weird. And I left out the chives because I didn't have any on hand, but I'm sure it would be even better with them. No doubt, it would be great with fresh brussels sprouts, but I used frozen like the recipe called for. I don't understand why someone who has a problem with frozen veggies would even be looking at a Sandra Lee recipe. We all know her premise is all about short cuts. Her recipes are not for cooking purists.

These were excellent when I pulled together a dinner for drop-in company--had everything on hand. I did add just a touch of the extract so can't comment if it would have been better with or without. I will say, please don't comment without trying--Sandra is all about shortcuts, and using frozen vegetables is part of quick cooking. I, too, questioned frozen sprouts when recently dining at my daughter's; she uses them regularly. They were absolutely fine, very fresh tasting. Nicest of all, no prep...cutting off the ends and cutting an X in the bottom of each fresh sprout which is how I prepare them, so I, too, now always have them in the freezer.

I saw her making this on TV and could NOT believe my eyes! Almond extract and Brussels?! And come on, do we really need to be buying frozen Brussels sprouts?? I am down with frozen peas, but fresh Brussels are easy to find when they're in season, and they cook through in a saute pan in minutes. I would save the almond extract for my cakes, cookies and granola!

My husband and I both love Brussels sprouts, so I'm always looking for new recipes. I used fresh sprouts instead of frozen, and less butter & extract than was called for, and these turned out delicious. Great texture and flavor.Sandra has hit another home run!

Tried the recipe (minus the extract for Christmas dinner and used fresh, not frozen. Better than any other brussel sprout recipe I've tried. Even my son loved them. So easy and effortless to make. We're having them again tonight.
