    This is a keeper - smooth, rich, slightly sweet, warm. The fresh whipped cream I've used hasn't ever curdled. Unless you've used something acidic, it should not. The topping should just slowly melt down becoming the cream in the coffee. You have to remember to use good quality ingredients to get good results. Do that and this drink will knock your sox off - or warm you so that you wont need any.

    I made this for myself and found the flavors came together wonderfully. Don't drink it immediately give all of the flavors time to rest into each other. I only used half of the recommended ingredients for everything and I found that it had a great taste. It most definitely keeps you warm and tingly inside. Just make sure you are in for the night if you are going to drink more than one cup and use the full recipe. This is a holiday keeper. Suggestion: make your whip topping and freeze. Take a couple of table spoons and put it on top it will cool the coffee so that you can drink it immediately, and I know the presentation may lose a point. I loved the rum flavor.

    In the northwest we get some pretty heavy snow falls. We love to fix the Butter-Rum coffee when we come in from the cold.

    I normally hate coffee but this is so good. I could not find vanilla rum so I used coconut rum instead.

    I would like to say that any hot beverage that is topped with whipped cream is going to turn curdly, so it's not this recipe. Keep in mind the whipped cream topping is really just for looks, remember we eat with our eyes first! The coffee is just as good without it. So if you don't eat the whipped cream quickly and the curdling bothers you, simply omitt from your beverage. Cheers ;

    I found it was better with vanilla vodka, I'm not a rum drinker, but as the recipe stands its not bad but I found it to be smother if you use vodka
