Has become a 4 year now requested favorite in my family, both sides. Just test it first so you know how strong it is or how you would like to tweak it around to be sure it is not too strong for those guests who will be driving home. Otherwise? My family is furious when I don't serve this, it's is yummy however strong or weak you make it. If you can't find the vanilla flavored vodka, I have been known to add a couple of drops of white vanilla flavoring into a batch of vodka. And if you want to weaken it, little bit of cold whole milk does the trick.

We tried this a couple different ways testing out the recipe for a party coming up later this week. We particularly liked one variation based off comments here using Vanilla Vodka and only a splash of peppermint schnapps. We tried crushed candy canes on the rim, but they were a little bit sharp. My girlfriend brought over this cocktail spice called Sweet Mint Cocktail Sugar and it was really nice as a rimmer for this drink. Can't wait to share this with friends later this week. Thanks for a great cocktail recipe!

I love this drink. I use vanilla vodka though because I prefer it to rum. But it is VERY yummy!! A little bit of Christmas in every sip!

I don't understand these people that keep posting that it's too strong. The strongest alcohol in it is the Vanilla Rum at 27.5%.Not really that strong of a drink, but I would recommend cutting back on the Peppermint schnapps unless you really like peppermint.

I added a bit more white chocolate and cut back a bit on the schnapps based on previous comments and it came out great.

Very good and rich - peppermint was very overpowering, so I only added a splash instead of equal parts.

The first time we made the drinks, it was a little too strong for me. So, at a different party, I didn't put the full 1 oz of vanilla rum and it was perfect!! Just add a tiny bith less than the 1 oz. Everyone loved them! including my 78 year old mother in law! : and, they still made me a little happy!! :

We really liked this drink, especially the ladies and those who like peppermint. It is a great drink for the holidays. However, I did use vanilla vodka some don't care for rum and I made two drinks, rather than one. I love the idea of crushing peppermint for the rim, although I did hang little candy canes from the edge and it was very pretty. There were wows and "Can I please have another" from several people.

    Thanks, Sandra!

My mom made this recipe for Christmas last year. It was delicious! My sister and I loved it, but we only had one because it is very potent!
