I just made these cookies. I have a batch in the oven as we speak. I have to say the taste is fabulous if you like peppermint. However it is difficult to make these things. It takes me 3-5 mins to make and I've had to make adjustments in forming them or it would be impossible. I am a baker and I find this difficult. I've also adjusted the amount of flour to use if not then it will taste doughy.

I chose this recipe to try and save some time during this crazy holiday season. I was very disappointed. When I formed the dough into the "snakes" and then into the candy cane shape they crumbled. I would have saved myself time if I would have made the dough from scratch.

I was hesitant to make this recipe based on some of the reviews. But I'm glad I went ahead and made them! They were very tasty and were not that difficult to make - in fact my 4-year old helped me braid the dough and she did an excellent job! The dough does start out sticky - but that is what the extra flour is for. You do need to roll the dough fairly thin - otherwise you will wind up with a thick-cakey cookie that takes a while to bake. The one thing I changed was the amount of peppermint extract - it is WAY too much. I used 1/2 t. and it was perfect. I did use real unsalted butter & regular "full-fat" block cream cheese. Perhaps some of the other reviewers used lower fat ingredients? Anyway - they aren't a 5-start cookie but they are very good.

The dough looked a little crumbly at first, but when I started working with it, things came together well. The flavor is amazing and the cookies were firm but moist even the next day. I will definitely be repeating this recipe this holiday season.

Tried these for christmas. The texture of my dough did not allow them to twist. They fell completely apart. If i was experienced in doughs, I could have probably figured out the problem. The dough was not "flexible".

My children made this recipe over Christmas and it is a very good tasting cookie and great with coffee. Not too sweet. They didn't have peppermint flavoring so they used crush peppermint candy - very good.

This recipe really turned a boring sugar cookie into something delicious and fun. The added ingredients really bring out the flavor. It was so much fun making the cookies and experimenting with the sizes the candy canes. I can't wait for saint patricks day to come so I can play with green clover cookies. We'll see how that turns out. :

I thought I would make this recipe one step easier by using refrigerated cookie dough. That didn't work out well. I ended up making round cookies. They were ok. Hopefully they would have came out better following the recipe she gave.
