The dough was very soft so it was hard to make into canes. Ended kind of mixing the doughs and made a roll out cookie. Loved the peppermint taste.

This recipe made very cute cookies for the Christmas cookie swap. They were ok as far as taste goes.

Fun for kids to help. They are a holiday entertainment cookie more than they are tasty, but they are still on my list of cookies to make!

Was expecting a much better tasting cookie. The flour taste really stood out in these cookies, which I do not care for. I expected more of a sugar cookie taste, but the flour was stronger than the mix. Also, rather time consuming to roll all that dough out and it was hard to do. The dough kept falling apart while trying to twist them together. They're cute and they'll be great on the Christmas cookie platter, but I'm not sure I'd make them again.

These cookies didn't turn out at ALL as I expected. The uncolored dough was ok to work with but the dough with the food coloring was too moist. To get the dough red enough, I had to add an entire bottle of food coloring and then had to compensate with additional flour to even be able to use it without it completly sticking to everything it came in contact with. Decided to roll both doughs together to create a red and white swirl cookie, but was still not very good. Next time would just follow recipe from cookie package and call it a day. Rolling those things out is IMPOSSIBLE.

At first I was unsure as to the size of the "cookie mix box" called for in the list of ingredients. So I purchased and used the Better Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix (in a bag, 17.5 oz.
The next time I make these I would either use 1less butter or 2 more flour in the recipe because the dough was difficult to handle in the twisting part. Although I made the chords thick it was difficult to twist them at times without them falling apart. (it looks much easier on TV : They DO look really pretty and smell wonderful. Mine are cooling as we speak.

I was so excited to try these cookies for this year's cookie exchange. The recipe was really easy because there were not very many ingredients. I used the Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix in a bag and it worked well. I also used Nuefachel Cheese instead of cream cheese (less fat and it turned out great. Also, I used 1/2 the amount of peppermint extract- so that the flavor would not be too strong for the kids. The only thing was that it was time consuming to roll out each cookie and form it into the candy cane. However, these were a big hit at the cookie exchange- they are a very presentable cookie. Kids loved them!!
