The actual recipe was extremly easy to make. But trying to roll and twist the two different doughs was difficult. The dough didn't seem to want to stay togther when rolling into ropes, then fell apart when I attempted to twist them. I ended up rolling out both doughs and overlapping them then rolling and cutting. They taste pretty good. But look really lousy. I was very disappointed, it looked so easy on the show.

These cookies were easy and very tasty! I love the richness from the cream cheese, which also keeps them from being too sweet. I left out the peppermint extract. The key is to use a NO-TASTE red food coloring(available in cake decorating stores, or they will be bitter by the time you get the red you want (This I know from working in a bakery--red frosting is NASTY!. Also, I used a good-quality name-brand mix. I will make these every holiday!

This is easy to make with children and you can allow them to mix the dough together. And the kids will enjoy eating them as long as just as making them as well. They also can put the cookies together to make the form of the candy cane form of the cookies.

I made these last year and they were a huge hit and my house smelled like peppermint for a day or so after I baked them. They will be a Christmas tradition at my house.

Before I made this recipe I read the reviews and it seems the biggest problem was the bitterness from the food color. You have to use a lot in order to get a "true" red color. Here is the fix: Use gel. There is a food color gel that is tasteless and this time of year it's plentiful. It will make a world of difference in the taste of the cookie. Also I would only use half of pepperment extract because it can also add to the bitterness. All in all the cookie wasn't that bad with a few tweaks..

i love to bake and this cookie was very simple. the one down fall of the cookie was that the dough was ver spft and it was to hard to make to canes so i just made them in to cookies with swrils. not alot of taste it was a very light cookie but it was very good.

I didn't have enough time to do this recipe as written, so I added chocolate mini chips and turned these into drop cookies (added 6 minutes to baking time for golden color. WOW! These turned out fantastic!! Thank you, Sandra for this yummy holiday recipe! :-
