I thought it was a little too basic. It was super cute in a coffee mug but it tasted like a box cake with coffee. I normally like Sandra's recipes but this was not her best.

I also made this as a bundt cake. Pouring 1/3 of the batter in the pan, then a layer of the "cappuccino" and the rest of the batter. My family liked it so much I think I made five of them over the holidays.

I made this as a layer cake instead of the cupcakes and topped it with a homemade buttercream frosting. It was moist with just the right amount of coffee flavor and the buttercream frosting was a perfect topping.

When I first looked at this recipe I thought it was the cutest dessert. I'm 17 and aspire to be a chef but I never really thought I could do this since I'm not the best of bakers. Oh my gosh! How easy and fun it was! They tasted delicous and my friends thought it was cool. I will deffinetly do this again! :

Not sure what went wrong...I'm an experienced cook, but tried making these for a bunko party. Only change I made--tried baking them in a smaller cup than the 8-oz ones Sandra used. Despite filling them proportionately less, they overflowed, and literallly left nothing baked in the actual mug. In addition, what I tasted of the cooked bits on the outside of the cups had no coffee flavor, just a strange vanilla-y taste. For me, a waste of ingredients and time. I ended up making a fabulous flourless chocolate cake in the hour I had left before guests arrived.
