Very good... but I almost burned the sugar mix trying to get dinner done at the same time..lol
then I had to find a platter big enough to flip it on ..ended up using a pizza sheet

Great! I've made this several times and have enjoyed it more after each one. I added raisins the last few minutes of cooking on the stove and also used refrigerator pie crust. But I did make sure that the pie crust was very cold before putting it over the apples. My family loves when I make this since it makes the whole house smell like apple pie.

It was pretty good. The golden delicious apples dissolve a bit, so I would probably use less of them and more of the Grannie Smiths. It tastes like apple crisp with a pie shell.

this went over very well and it was way to easy to do. I made two of them, one as the recipe states and the second i changed from sugar to brown sugar and i must say the change made it even better. They didn't last long! Smelling it was a killer cause i love apple pie and this was just awesome. I did use cool whip tho cause heavy cream here in Ohio is VERY costly! cheaper to buy the tub. Still, it's an awesome dessert for anytime of the year!

I made this for my family last week and will be making a different variation of it this evening. This quickly became everyones (including my husband favorite dessert! I made it in the oven only since I do not have an oven safe skillet, and it turned out beautifully. I also used refridgerated pie crust vs. mixing my own...
LOVE IT!!!

I read the comments first about keeping the simmer down to a low to carmelize and it turned out wonderfully! The only thing I differed from was the refridgerated pie crust, I only had phyllo dough frozen so I used that and kept brushing melted butter on it to keep it soft.....my parents and my family loved it!

Sandra, you make it seem so easy! this certainly wasn't a complicated recipe, and tasted great - it gets a 4 star rating only because of me....I must not have followed some direction correctly because the sauce for the apples was very runny. Could anyone who makes this successfully (and I do recommend it! please tell me where I went wrong? Did I not cook long enough on the stove, or did I not bake it long enough? Thank you!
