Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 6 cups marshmallow charms cereal
  • 8 ounces white chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons confetti sprinkles

Directions

Spray a 10-inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Melt the butter and marshmallows in a large pot over medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Once completely melted and smooth, add the cereal and stir until completely combined. Evenly distribute the marshmallow mixture into the prepared pan and press it into an even layer. Allow it to set in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before cutting. Remove the cooled treats from the pan to a cutting board. Using a 2 1/2-inch round biscuit cutter, cut out rounds and set aide.

In a double boiler or microwave melt white chocolate, in a small bowl. Spread the melted chocolate on top of each marshmallow treat. Put them on a waxed paper lined sheet tray and sprinkle with confetti sprinkles. Allow chocolate to set, then transfer the treats to a serving platter and serve.

This was a very simple recipe to follow. It worked like a charm on the very first try. My 11 year son was able to help ice and sprinkle. He was the official taste tester who said, "You need to make more!" I made 2 batches for Easter dinner and there were none left! Thank you so much for sharing this great recipe!

Rice Krispy treats take rice cereal and marshmallow and transform them into something greater than the sum of its parts. Charmed Marshmallow Treats take Lucky Charms and marshmallows and transform them into lumps of Lucky Charms glued together with marshmallows. They're fine if you like Lucky Charms, but they don't improve upon the cereal treat genre. The white chocolate coating definitely adds much-needed sweetness and flavor.

The recipe is sticky and a difficult to work with. It was not easy to press the mixture into the pan and the marshmallow oozed to the bottom while chilling, forming a gluey layer. This made it difficult to remove the treats from the pan. I didn't use a cookie cutter, but just sliced them into small bite-sized pieces.

I would not make this again. It's not that hard, though, aside from the stickiness, so if you really love Lucky Charms, you might give it a try.
