I was so looking forward to making this soup. I followed the directions, which I normally don't do, but I did. I used the bacon bits. If I ever make this again, I will make my own bacon. I used 2 potatoes for more chunkiness which worked, some. I just thought it was to thin of a soup.

I only had a bowlful. My husband didn't even want any. I gave the rest of it to my niece and her roommates. They loved it haha. Otherwise I would've given one star.

Despite my review, keep up the good work Sandra!

Just made this soup today. It was perfect for this chilly weather we're having up here in northern NY. I used chicken broth. Turned out delicious. Not too cheesey! I added another potatoe because i wanted it more filling and it did the trick! I'm an army wife and we sometimes have hectic days around here but i know my picky soldier will LOVE this soup. Thanks Sandra Lee!

THIS ONE TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD.
I DID NOT HAVE A POTATO TO BACK, I USED PLAIN SHREDDED HASHBROWNS.
I ALSO ADDED A SEASONING THAT IS PURCHASED TO SPRINKLE ON TOP OF A BAKED POTATO.....(HINT OF ONION, MAYBE GARLIC... A DASH OF PEPPER.
I ALSO CHOPPED UP HAM AND TOSSED IN IT, I AM SURE THAT I WILL FIND A MILLION WAYS TO JAZZ THIS ONE UP

My nineteen year old son loves to cook and this recipe was right up his alley. I read the reviews and convienced him to use 4 potatoes, increase the chicken stock by a cup and put a 1/4 cup of sour cream in the pot and it was AWESOME! We I mean he will make this again. Thanks Sandra Lee!!!

I saw this one day and thought it looked good so a week later I made it for my son and husband and we all loved it. I liked it so much I have made it for most of the family and have them all hooked. They now ask me to make it ever time I go see them and my mom even makes it for all her friends.

I've made the soup a few times now. The first time I followed the recipe exactly but ended up adding 2 extra potatos to make it the consistency we like. It was good but was missing a little something. So the next time around I added about a quarter cup of cream, and let me tell you, it makes all the difference. It's delicious and everytime I make it I never have leftovers!

After watching the segment about this recipe, I decided to take the idea and make it into something worth eating. I took about 6 small potatoes, cubed them, and boiled them for about 20 minutes, until just fork tender (don't make them too mushy!. Meanwhile, I chopped about 6 pieces of bacon and fried them. When they're done, drain on paper towels. Reserve a couple tablespoons of the bacon grease. I diced about half an onion and sauteed it in the bacon grease with a couple handfuls of frozen corn. When the potatoes are done, drain and set aside. In the potato pot, add the chicken stock, one can of cheddar cheese soup and one can of cream of potato soup (this cuts down on the overwhelming cheese taste others didn't like. Bring to a simmer then add the potato, bacon, onion, and corn. Salt and pepper to taste and also add about 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried thyme (either ground or the leaves will work fine. Garnish with shredded cheese and scallions. Not something I would describe as elegant, but certainly great for a cold, rainy day.

I love Sandra Lee. I have tried and LOVED many recipes from her show. This one though was soooo bad. It looked so good. I made it exactly like the recipe said. Even the color was not the same. How come Sandra's was more of a brownish color? Mine was bright yellow like the cheese soup.

I think my homeade potato cheese soup is much better and almost as easy. Boil potatoes( I add onion flakes to the water, drain 3/4 of the water off. Smash most the potatoes leaving lots of bigger chunks, add some milk, heat until simmering, add velveta cheese....a voila..GOOD easy chesse soup . (This does make a nice thick soup that i love. use more milk if you like it thinner

I will still keep on trying Sandras recipes though . More are good then are bad. :0

I know this is a review page . Sorry for the recipe thrown in there .

Usually recipes that are on the food network channel look pretty, seem easy, but end up with too many ingredients and are often time consumming! However, this recipe was really simple! I tried it and my family loved it! I did use more chicken stock to make the soup thinner! Great for cool weather! Great for cooking at the beach during a cool weather stay!
