I was interested in this recipe, but read the negative reviews and personal attacks on Sandra Lee, and since I am brand new to Food Network and her show, I didn't know any better and I listened to them.
BUT...I came back and saw the positive reviews in defense of the negative and thought I would give this recipe a try. Boy am I ever glad I did! This dish was easy and fantastic! My very picky hubby even said he liked it!
Next time I make this (and there will be a next time I will add a little less chicken broth, and more dumplings.
I did cook my "dumplings" about 15 minutes, just to make sure they were done, and they were fantastic, but I did check them after the initial 10 minutes.
I loved it!

There are so many people out there whose lives are so empty, and are on a mission to destroy Sandra Lee. (hasn't worked yet!! It's obvious to everyone you are giving it one star without making it just to lower her ratings. Honestly, is this how you raise your children to behave? Why don't you try spending your idle time in a manner that really matters? Your kids may love you for it. Went over you head, didn't it? I've tried several of her recipes and have enjoyed them including this one. Wish everyone had to send a photo of themselves along with their comments...

TO THE PERSON WHO SAID THAT SANDRA SHOULD NOT HAVE SHOW OR
WHY WOULD ANY ONE WANT TO USE STORE BROUGHT PRODUCTS, EITHER HAS NEVER WATCHED THE BEGINNING OF HER PROGRAM, OR JUST LOGGED ON AND FOR NO REASON TRIED THE RECIPE. SHE EXPLAINS WHY SHE USES THE PRODUCTS SHE DOES, IT IS MEANT TO BE A HELP, HEY IF YOU DON;T WANT TO USE A SLOW COOKER FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THEN LOOK FOR ANOTHER RECIPE. I JUST LOOKED AT THE SITE FOR PAULA DEEN'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS NOT EVERYBODY LIKED HER EITHER. SO GET OVER IT.
MY MOM MADE DUMPLINGS THAT WERE FLAT, I EAT THEM THAY ARE NOT MY FAVORITE, BUT ANOTHER LADY AT MY CHURCH MAKES THE BIGGEST AND FLUFFIEST YOU'VE EVER SEENAND I LOVE THEM, AND MY DAUGHTER MAKES HERS USING A BOX BISCUIT MIX.
HEY CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS ARE NOT FOR EVERYBODY !!!

I agree with both sides. I use her recipe and make it my own with all natural ingredients. I use organic, free range chicken broth, all natural gravy and I make my own whole grain biscuit dough. I do agree that it needs to be thicker, so I just stir in some cornstarch or arrowroot. Sometimes it helps just to have a "basic structure" when cooking.

This was a great dinner on a cold winter evening!! I cut the recipe in half and used the half of a leftover store bought rotisserie chicken from a couple of days before. I also made my dumplings from the recipe on the side of the Bisquick box instead of the rolled biscuits. I will be making this again in the near future, for sure.

My grandson loves this dish. Would eat it every day if we let him. When my brother makes his yearly visit to Florida he always request that I make this. The broth is too thin so I add a little corn starch to thicken it up.

A friend and I cooked this and it just didn't turn out too good. The biscuits turned out really nasty. They were extremely slimmy, gooey, and raw tasting. We actually picked around the "dumplings", which made it a little better. It also could have been cooked with a little less broth... way too much.

I don't even know why Sandra Lee is on the Food Network. Maybe some people cook like this but I don't think she deserves a show. All I ever see is her store bought cakes, canned and powdered soups, spice packets with MSG and salt, slow cooker and overly-alcoholic drinks. Come on now, is this really what the Food Network is about? I've yet to come across a recipe where I didn't shake my head and think "how ridiculous". Putting something in the slow cooker for 9+ hours is not quick, and making a meal with pre-made ingredients full of sodium and MSG is not something I or any children or anyone for that matter should be eating.

This is, by far, better than any chicken and dumplings I've tried. I think it's the chicken gravy and biscuits that makes it so tasty. What I love the most, is how quick and easy it is to make and yet, so delicious - especially on a cold winter weeknight.
