This was my firt time making ribs and I thought this recipe was very easy and yummy. I followed the recipe exactly. Loved the Chinese 5 spice flavor! The two things I would change would be salting the meat a little more and only use one cup of beef broth (there was a lot of liquid left over! The meat was falling off the bone. Great recipe!

I used a chuck roast instead of short ribs and cooked it covered in the oven for 3 hours. The liquids cooked down to a rich sauce. It smelled incredible while cooking! I served it over egg noodles. Delicious!!! Can't wait to cook it again.

I have made this recipe several times. Everyone who has had them at my table loves them and always asks for the recipe. I love being able to use my slow cooker to prepare them. A great Sunday brunch or busy day recipe!

This is one of my go-to slow cooker meals, it is always delicious. I have never put the five-spice powder in so it doesn't taste very asian but it is a very flavorful tomato/onion broth. I sometimes add a little cornstarch at the end to thicken it and serve over mashed potatoes or gnocchi.

Everyone really likes these, and they are perfect for the Asian impaired cook.

I didn't want short ribs so I used 1" bone in chops. (less Fat. Didn't use the 5 spice, added pinch of cinnamon& ground glove, black pepper, and tps of Ms. Dashes. In a large bowl mixed stewed tomatoes, soup mix, spices, hoisin sauce, 1 tbs seame seed oil, and a shake or 2 of rice wine vinegar. Loaded the crockpot with root veggies and cabbage. Browned the chops with lemon pepper and garlic salt placed on top. Poured mixture over and cooked on high for 4 hours.. It was outstanding. Cooking is a method if you don't like something don't add it and add what you like...

This is so easy and delicious, and although my cooking skills exceed using short-cuts, my work schedule makes these choices the best. This is a very tasty and wonderful recipe. I made it just as directed and the spice level was perfect. I can't understand why so many think it is too spicy. Life is too short for all bland food!

Great flavor and the meat was cooked very well. I wish that I could have seen the episode as to what to do with the sauce. It was a little bit oily to use as a gravy for me.
