The batter did look difficult to spread into the baking dish, so I added about 3 tablespoons of half and half. I sprayed a rubber spatula with cooking spray to get it evenly distributed. I also used 1/2 teaspoon of amaretto instead of the almond extract. I used a slightly smaller pan so they weren't so flat, and baked them only 25 minutes. Half the amount of frosting is plenty.
Would make these again---a nice twist on boring brownies.

This is the second time I've made these brownies. Like the flavor OK, but am I doing something wrong? Are you all using a 13x9 pan? Seems too flat. Maybe a smaller baking dish so the brownies get taller? And they seem tough or just didn't raise enough. And should I add more milk/water to make it easier to spread? Help with this one please. I'd like to make it correctly and have it come out right. P.S. Anything with powdered sugar in frosting I use less than half of what's called for or it is way too sweet. I noticed others felt the same way.

How can anyone use 32 oz. of sugar?
I used 2 cups and was overwhelmed by the sugar.

Loved the coffee flavor in the brownies and the icing. Will definitely make these again. They were not difficult to make.

FA-BU-LOUS!! had to try this one a couple of times before I got it right, but when I did...we LOVED it. I couldn't find any espresso powder either, so I just ground some of the instant coffee to a powder, and that worked great. I also under cooked the brownie just a bit (till the toothpick came out ALMOST clean. They came out chewy and with great flavor. As for the stickiness of the dough....just sprayed my hands with pan spray, and used my hands to press the dough out in the pan....easy peasy.

Even my husband, who hates brownies and coffee, loved these. He licked the bowl from the icing. Yes, the batter is difficult to work with, but it's worth the effort. I didn't care for the nuts, but that's personal. Also, I didn't have any instant coffee, so I used the same instant espresso as in the icing. My husband's family ignored their own desserts in favor of mine. Score!

I made this for my husband and he couldn't stop eating them. The frosting for it is also awesome! This is going in my cookbook for the holidays. A keeper for sure!!!

Watched her make it on tv and had to make it. It was messy - all the powdered sugar but worth it. It was a hit with everyone I served it to. The only problem was there is no expresso powder to be found in all of Houston. If not here then I don't think it exist.

it was ok, but the frosting for the brownies were a little buttery. The brownies itself was REALLY good!!!! i would suggest eating it without the icing
