Awesome recipe! My husband made it according to directions and served it on rice and couldn't be happier! Next time we'll have to make a double batch because it's GONE! Thanks!

This is a great recipe. The first time that we made it we added beans, and it was awesome. The next time, we made it exactly as the recipe read, and it was wonderful- I served it over corn bread. I think that it would also be great cooked with potatoes.

I was looking for a recipe for Steak Ranchero, which is chunks of beef simmered with onions, bell peppers and potatoes. This sounded very close. I added the peppers and potatoes, along with 2-3 cups of stock. I simmered mine on the stove top for about 2 hours and served with Spanish Rice and Refried Beans. It was delicious. Definitely will make this again.

My husband (who is laid off saw it on Sandra Lee's show and printed the recipe for us to try. We are on a low carb diet and since this doesn't have beans, it's pretty low carb. We put it together one night and refrigerated the lift-off pot. Hubby set it out a hour or so and then cooked it during the day while I was at work. Awesome meal to come home to. Between the 3 of us, me, hubby and 21 year old son, there wasn't a drop left! Definitely a keeper!

I love anything that goes in the slow cooker- especially when it is this good!

    Lucille,
Let's see if we get any answer here because I noticed the same thing. Not only did she say "low" she set it on low and then said "4 to 6 hours." Maybe in a crock pot it's all about the same but maybe not.

Also, it would be cool if there was a way to skip the rating with a "Pending".

I leave out the bacon and use chile ancho powder, it's perfect every time.

I would definitely make this again. You could even serve this on buns with cheese - kind of like a barbeque beef sandwich. I only used 2 cans of diced green chiles, and I added 1 tablespoon of minced chipotle in adobo. It definitely added more flavor. I served the chili with corn muffins.
