Chili sauce out of a can (made for hot dogs is the nastiest, most disgusting stuff I have EVER eaten!!! This recipe is the bomb. If you want it spicier, use the spicier chili seasoning packet or add your own seasoning. Hot dog chili is NOT the same as eating a bowl of chili with beans!!! Two different animals completely.

good sauce goes good with the white onions, i added a bit of hot sauce, but overall, it was good and i would make again,, but with one other change, I would use Plaths Meats of Rogers City Mich.. Home Made hot dogs which r just the best ever,,, regular dogs or cheese dogs which go great with this sauce,,, and also the jalapeno dogs... great recipe

I didn't like this when I tasted the sauce plain, but on a hot dog with cheese and onions, it somehow worked. Had it last year for our 'Hallowienie' and will try it again this year. Couldn't decide between 4 and 5 stars, because I didn't like the flavor of the sauce by itself, but went for the 5. It's easy, and everyone raved. I believe, if I remember correctly, I followed the recipe for the sauce exactly (usually do the first try

This is a super easy recipe, and my guys gobbled it up faster than anything. You might want to make sure that the chili sauce is the kind more similar to ketchup than to sweet and sour sauce though! :

I agree with lovetoeatandcook. Chili Sauce from Upstate is a sweet/spicy.. tomatoes, onion, peppers, cinnimon, allspice, cloves, ginger, celery seed, ground mustard, sugar, vinegar, crushed red pepper. My mother made,my sister makes with fresh tomatoes.. I do "mock" with canned and freinds call and want it for dogs, burgers, meatloaf. But your thought was good.

We loved it! We tried several chili dog sauce recipes and this one was a winner. It had just enough tang to dress the simple flavor of a hot dog. It was a super simple recipe and the end result beat out a few other Food Network recipes. Thumbs up!

Did not care for this. A chili dog stating Coney Island is sooo wrong! Coney sauce is not chili sauce! I've got a version of Coney sauce that uses the chili sauce (which is not chili flavored that is much better!
