I made this soup on a cold Winter night, & it really hit the spot. This soup was a cinch to prepare and delicious. In the little town that I live in, I could not find the "fine herbs", so along with the salt & pepper, I added dried parsley leaves, tarragon, & poultry seasoning. Thank you Sandra Lee for this delicious recipe. I also used a 49 oz. can of the reduced sodium chicken broth.

I really enjoyed this recipe. My husband hates celery, unfortunately, so I used peas instead and a can of cream of celery soup to sort of make up for the lack of celery flavor. I also had some chicken breast I needed to use, so I just boiled that instead of using a whole chicken, and then used the chicken broth from that instead of store-bought. I suppose that isn't exactly "semi-homemade" but I was working with what I had : I also added two more cans of the "cream of" soups (2 mushroom, 1 celery, and 1 chicken. I couldn't find mushroom with garlic, so I threw in some minced garlic with the soup mixture. I think the fines herbs are what makes this. I served it with grilled cheese sandwiches and I got rave reviews. My husband has already made me put this into the "make again" file. Thanks, Sandra, for an extremely easy, fairly cheap, and a great cold-weather dish!

tyler florence has a better recipe and you can still use store bought precooked meat if you want.

OK. So was anyone else somewhat alarmed that Skanky:
    1. Left Cody in a cage while she went to Starbucks
    2. Threw garbage in the neighbor's garden.
    3. Sent the family to bed with empty stomachs.
    4. Then awoke the family at 2:30AM to eat.
Should we be calling the Ohio Social Services or just chalk it up to someone with a very imaginative writing skill?
P.S. I also liked the recipe made on the stove top.

Wow - I am shocked at how well this turned out. I did follow other reviewers and used less liquid and more cream. I also used herbs de provence since that's what I had on hand. Absolutely delicious! You would never know this was semi-homemade. Dont think I'll try another chicken noodle soup again!

This soup recipe cannot compare to soup in a can. Soup in a can has had "chicken" and veggies sitting on shelf in a can for weeks at best. yuck!
This was a great soup recipe. I did make a couple of changes. I put in three cups of carrots instead of one because we all love carrots. I let the onions, carrots and celery simmer in the pot before putting the chicken in with it. I did not use a crock pot. I used my Le Creuset pot. I brought all the ingredients to a boil and then let it simmer, covered, for five hours. I used one can of regular cream of mushroom and one can of cream of chicken. I also threw in a small spoonful of chicken base at the end. For the herbs I used the herbs de provence from William Sonoma. It was very good!!!

I just LOVE this russipe! It's so simple and easy. I made the mistake of leaving my 3 year old, Cody, in his cage next to the slow cooker, and he poured in the egg noodles while I was at Starbucks, and when I got back, the noodles had absorbed all the liquid from the soup and the whole thing looked like a bucket of snot. YUCK! Well, I dumped the whole batch in my neighbor's garden and started over...and voila! At 2:30 am, after just another NINE hours in the slow cooker, it was SO yummy!! I even woke my whole family up to try it...they were SOOOO hungry by then, that they ate the whole batch. There wasn't even any left over for my dog...sorry Scratchy, maybe next time! We LOVE YOU Sandra!

I am not a Sandra Lee fan because she comes across as if she's speaking to children rather than adults but this recipe was good. Another reviewer suggested using creamy chicken & herb soup which I did and in my opinion that added alot of flavor. I also "doctored" it up a little with some sage, thyme and cracked black pepper for even more added flavor and it turned out great. Everyone really enjoyed it! I don't watch her show anymore because I I find her so irritating but I'm at least glad I saw her make this!
