This is the best fish and chips ever! I was a little hesitant to use tilapia vs cod but we LOVED it! Just be careful when you open the selzer water - mine exploded!

This recipe was EASY to make and EASY to prepare. We caught the episode on TV today, and thought it would be fun to make. And it was...thank you! Tasted just like you would get in a restaurant...Kids ate it too! They loved the idea of the newspaper to make the right effect. (And, let me just say, I have THE pickiest kids in the UNIVERSE!

I love the fish in this recipe! Even my husband, a man I have dubbed the pickiest eater on earth was lovn' it! The potatoes didn't turn out, but that could have just been my error.

I was amazed at how easy this recipie was especially since I had never made this before. I did not make Sandra's potatoes. I just made some homemade fries.
The fish was delicious! The batter very easy to make. I doubled the recipie for my family. I forgot to buy the seltzer water, so reading another person's comments, (they added half water and half beer to the batter, I decided that the ginger ale that I had would have to work. I was nervous, but low and behold...it worked. It was delicious. My husband, 3 year old, and 18 month old sons devoured it! We had a little left over the next day and heated the fish in our toaster oven and it was just as delicious. My three year old kept asking for more!
I did cook the fish in my deep fryer. I think next time I will try the non-stick skillet as suggested in the recipie. The fish kept sticking to my frying basket.

I used the batter with chicken strips and deep-fried! The batter, although very crunchy and fun, was very bland in my opinion. I was looking for a more Long John Silvers taste. Next time I will add more spices and such : A+

The batter was wonderful, and simple to assemble. We've had this recipe twice since the show aired. It holds up when refrigerated overnight. That's a good thing.

My family absolutely loved the cruncy fish and chips I made using Sandra's recipe. The batter for the fish is the trick!! Even people who are not big fans of fish loved this fried recipe. The tilapia turns out exactly as described if you are careful to follow the recipe. Now, I am asked to cook this dish often and it always draws rave reviews. Thanks, Sandra for adding another winner to my recipe collections.

I'm just a beginner cook, so I appreciate Sandra's recipes - easy, quick and I have most of the ingredients in my kitchen. I used Tilapia and Catfish. I didn't have the selter water so I substituted it for 1/2 c. beer & 1/2 c. water. I also added a dash of Old Bay to the dredging flour. My husband doesn't usually like fish, but he had an extra portion of this fish. Since you have the oil, you should make Sandra's mini Apple Spiced Glazed Donuts (do the donuts first so they don't taste like fish ;-

I'm from the MS Gulf Coast, but in college. I really miss the seafood up here. When I saw this episode I went straight to the kitchen and cooked it up! I was suprised to have all the ingredients and let me tell you... it could have possibly been the best fish n chips Ive had. Kudos, sandra!
