The seltzer water makes this recipe.

Being from the South , I have fish running out my ears! Brimm, catfish, trout..Bass..

Believe me, this recipe makes any fish taste good..!
In CA Tilapia is cheap..good choice....

My secret...and the boys want it everey week, is add dill to the batter...a little....little...corn starch also..will make it really crispy..

    GREAT RECIPE....I love this show!!!

I love this recipe and so does my husband. I sent it to my daughter and son as well. I don't know what those people are talking about. Tilapia does not have a fishy smell or taste. Believe me, I would not eat it if it did.

We are having it again tonight it was so good, as well as the leftover part. We had both and cannot decide which one we liked better.

For those who said it was not enough to feed their family, my advice is to just add a few more potatoes or fish or perhaps a roll.

Thank you Sandra for a great recipe. Before this I was not a fan of your show, but I am a BIG fan now,

    Thanks again.

This is one of the easiest and delicious recipes I've ever made. Very flavorful! I stuck to the recipe exactly. Talipia in the Houston area is very inexpensive - $4.99lb. so my husband and I had dinner for 2 for about $8.00 including the store bought tartar sauce.

I'm making this again tonight but with shrimp instead of talipia.

And it is cheap! Potatoes are very inexpensive and they are both healthy and filling. As for the fish part, the frying and batter section of the recipe was a little too much work for me. So as a substitute, I just bought a box of fried fish that was on sale at the supermarket. And talk about a Money Saving Meal! Tilapia fish cost $6.99/lb and this generic fried fish cost $2.99/lb. Huge savings of both money and time. Making the fish from scratch will taste better (of course but in a recipe like this, I enjoy the store-bought fried fish well enough. Not to mention, the tartar sauce is where a lot of flavor will come from and you make that from scratch.

    Thank you, Sandra Lee! A+.

Amy in Arlington, VT, couldn't have said it better!!! She has her head on straight, and sounds like my kind of cook! ONLY BAKING needs to be followed to the letter! It's a formula, friends! Recipes are guidelines to follow as written or to alter for your own taste. This recipe works well with ANY whitefish. The Tilapia we get from our meat department is never "fishy" - ever! If it smells fishy, people, DON'T BUY IT! It's old! I've been cooking for more than 52 years, and Sandra is doing us all a huge favor with this new show.

I've never fried anything in my life, but this recipe looked (and was so easy that I decided to try it. My entire family raved about it and can't wait until I make it again. I felt as if I were eating at my favorite seafood restaurant. I made it with haddock, as that's what my family likes best, and I didn't serve it in newspaper (even though I've been served fish and chips in newspaper by my local Irish pub many times and I'm not dead yet, and I didn't even make her chips with it. Should I give her recipe a lower rating because I don't share her taste in fish or because I chose not to serve it her lovely way? Of course not. I'm giving the recipe the highest possible rating my friends, because it was easy, money saving, and absolutely, incredibly delicious. Good job, Sandra.

I don't know where you all are living and where you are buying your talipia, but I am in Texas have been cooking with it for several years and have NEVER gotten a fishy piece of talipia! It's as mild as orange roughy but firmer! I thought this made the best fish and chips done at home I have eaten!

On the show, she suggested serving the fish in a container made out of newspaper. Newsprint is poisonous. If you like the idea of using paper, try a different kind. I have not tried the recipe.

I made this recipe tonight for me and my husband and he raved about it for the entire meal. I thought it was great too- I used Old Bay in the Tartar Sauce and it was awesome! Maybe you guys got some bad fish because I didn't think the tilapia was over powering at all. I know some of the farm raised can smell really fishy or taste like dirt but I got lucky with a really good batch. It was so fast and I really enjoyed it. My chips actually cooked faster than the recipe called for, but I used a microplane grater so maybe my slices were a little bit thinner. Great recipe- I wouldn't usually make something like this so I'm glad I tried it and added it to my recipe box!

I thouroughly enjoyed this recipe!! I am a terrible cook and have a hard time finding recipes that are very easy...this one takes the cake! I thought the Talapia was a perfect choice and the batter was fantastic. Now I might try using the batter on other things!!!
