Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 80 percent lean
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/4 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 2 dill pickles, sliced
Directions
Divide the ground beef and reserve 1/2 pound for the Round 2 Recipe, Meatball Subs. Shape into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Place in a skillet that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray over medium-high and cook patties 3 minutes on each side. In the last minute of cooking, top the meat patties with cheese so it will melt.
In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, sour cream and mayonnaise and spread half onto the hamburger buns and reserve the leftover for a dipping sauce for the French Fries. Place the burgers on buns and top with lettuce and pickles.
Use the leftover beef from this recipe to make Meatball Subs.

I watched this episode and decided that I would turn this into a slider recipe for a movie night with the family. The family loved them. However, half of my family was not fond of the creamy sauce. I didn't put it on the burgers because I figured that would start a revolt at my house. I personally liked it and my son used it for his fries but the rest of the family... well, they didn't hate it but they weren't used to being served dipping sauce. When I brought out the bottle of malt vinegar (inexpensive and no mixing required!, the fries quickly disappeared. I also do not have an oven so keeping fries warm... Wrapping them in foil helps but they do lose a bit of crispiness. I would make this again and just tweak it for my family. For the person looking for a substitute for sour cream.... you can try plain yogurt or just leave out the sour cream and add in more mayo/miracle whip.
