I've made this using homemade sauteed apples. I place the sauteed apples in between the bread to make a sandwich...then I dip the sandwich in the egg mixture and then fry the sandwiches in a pan! Its so very good!

Somehow that didn't seem right and it wasn't. The sandwiches were sickeningly sweet and heavy and the apple pie filling was just plain gross. I know I won't be making this again.

These were delicious! We topped them with real maple syrup and powdered sugar and they were a perfect sweet treat for Valentines Day.

This is the best recipe. I cut up some apples and tossed them with cinnamon sugar and baked them for the filling, becuase I didn't have any apple pie filling. It came out great! The whole house smelled good too. This is a wonderful holiday recipe. Thx!

This was so good! Will make it again and again. You can easily substitute fresh apples if you don't have any canned pie filling on hand too. I cooked my bread a little longer than she did on the show, so they would be crispier. The idea to microwave the nuts with the syrup is fabulous.

And more than a bit messy. I don't think I'd serve it to company.
