This recipe is great with ranch dressing, or a mix of ranch dressing mixed with a few spoonfuls of your favorite BBQ sauce. This recipe is much better than the Fried Chicken Salad you get at Applebees, and much cheaper. I love to add corn, sliced black olives, sweet rings of red onion, cheddar cheese or whatever I have in my refrigerator.

Hey folks, it's not BBQ sauce, Grillmates is a line of peppered seasonings that you find in the spices. I've added Mrs. Dash's spicy seasoning to ranch dressing or whatever pepper seasoning I'm buying. Maybe that's the error some of you made thinking BBQ not peppered seasoning. My husband has made this recipe even easier by purchasing the hot and ready chicken tidbits or strips from the grocery deli on the way home from work. This is his way of not having a lot of cooking/clean up on his one night per week to cook. He makes this all the time because it's easy and he likes making "new" dressings for our family to try.

I've had this type of salad with a creamy Parmesean cheese dressing. It was very tasty.I'm not a big fan of Ranch dressing so I just buy the Peppercorn Parm cheese dressings.I've had the pasta salads with cooked chicken and veggies and the Ranch dressing was ok on them.

How do you rate something 5 stars that you've never even tried? How can you rate something you've never made? Not cool to raise the ratings if you've never even bothered to try the recipe. You might want to get off that soapbox and look in a mirror before you judge. How do you review something you are going to try?The recipe is vile by the way. The combination does not work so stick to the salad with ranch dressing if you actually plan on eating it.

A bit of a soapbox, I know, but someone had to say something.
I plan on trying this recipe this week, and I always check the ratings and comments first. I have to say, I think it's really unfair to Sandra Lee and to people like me who generally like to try the 5-star recipes that others gave the recipe 2 stars when they didn't even follow the recipe!! How can you say a recipe is bad if you didn't even follow it!?! Especially if you leave out the two main ingredients that make it taste unique (i.e. the chicken and the BBQ seasoning! Without those, it's just a plain garden salad with ranch dressing! Not cool to drop the rating because of your own mistakes.

I was pleasantly surprised with this dish, and the whole family enjoyed it. It is a nice choice for a hot day. I did use a different brand of chicken, and adjusted the amount of BBQ seasoning in the dressing to our liking.

I stopped at the store to buy the ingredients and had left my list at home--
The popcorn chicken ( buffalo wing sauce, all I could find was HOT HOT HOT---I don't do spicy very well at all- and could not find the McCormick Grillmates Seasoning or substituted with BBQ seasoning of another kind--- again HOT HOT HOT-- I will try this recipe again, WITH all the right ingredients--

It took no time to prepare------even wrong-----

Two stars -but that is my fault----

I often am hungry when I get home from work and don't want to spend a lot of time fussing in the kitchen. This recipe was perfect in taste and ease of preparation. I might try substituting cooked chicken strips for the popcorn chicken next time(and there will be a next time.

My roommates and I thought this was great! We did change it a little... we used shake n bake chicken cut into pieces and about 1/2 of the BBQ seasoning since it is a little salty and we added some shredded cheese... So good!!!
