I made a few changes by adding 4 more pieces of bacon, sauteed mushrooms with the chopped onions and replaced the cognac with white wine. My whole family loved this on Thanksgiving.

You MUST use the Knorr Garlic Herb Sauce Mix or it will just not be the same consistency or taste.

Simple yet delicious recipe to make for any occasion!

I've made this for Thanksgiving and Christmas for the last 2 years and it's been a big hit for my family!!
I add a bit more bacon, and render it nicely so the fat melts in your mouth and it's nice and crispy.
    So good!

I read all the reviews but went ahead and made it anyway. I thought it came out pretty good I was expecting it to be gross, the only thing I did was use chicken broth instead of cognac then I topped it with french fried onions and baked it a little and thought it was great!

I couldn't wait to try this one on my family given the wide range of reviews. We all loved it. Even the "loose vegetarians" who left off the bacon that I served on the side, also knowing that bacon fat was in the dish! I skipped the cognac with all the tee tottlers and just added more half and half. Also, used long green beans cause couldn't find french-cut. I didn't pour off any bacon fat, and just fried the onions in it. I think it would be better with more crispy bacon pieces and maybe mushrooms too. Unfortunately, no leftovers.

I tried this recipe because I needed a green bean dish for Thanksgiving. I surprised. I'm not really a green bean fan, but trying this recipe, I found it to be pretty good. I would make this dish again.

This is the third year that I am making this dish and I absolutely love it! It is so simple to make and the ingredients are easy to find. A great alternative to the classic green bean casserole. I only hope there are leftovers so I can make Sunny's second day turkey and greenbean pot pies!
