guests loved it when I served it at thanksgiving. It was easy to make and a great alternative to the traditional icky green bean casserole. It will be come a permanent T-giving dish.

This recipe replaces the ubiquitous green bean casserole. We tried it for the first time on Thanksgiving and it was a big hit. It was good because I have a small oven and a large turkey so a top of the stove recipe was very convenient! I chose not to use the whole package of garlic herb sauce mix so the flavor of the vegetables was able to come through. Because you are zapping the peas and green beans in the microwave, they are al dente to perfection and even the day after were wonderful. I usually have to throw away some leftovers but not this time! We are making them again for Christmas dinner with our Crown Roast of Pork!

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a big hit! They are now being requested for Christmas and added to the future holiday menus. Easy to make and delicous.

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews prior to making this dish because I might have skipped it and missed out on a delicious treat. My husband and I really enjoyed this, and we both felt that it would have made an excellent main dish since it was very filling. We did modify the original recipe a bit--we substituted white wine for the cognac and used thick-cut bacon, and we used fresh string beans rather than frozen. I think it is very important to find the right sauce mix, which we had to hunt for a bit. We made the full recipe and had enough leftover for lunch the following day. Next time, I'm thinking of sauteeing some mushrooms to add to it, just for some variety on the color and texture.

The sauce was truly sickening. Please taste it before using it on veggies.

The vegetables were ruined by the peculiar combination of the (too salty seasoning packet and the brandy. Universally disliked.

surprisingly mild for how I imagined. I used pear juice in place of the cognac, but I'll try it again with brandy next time. Lovely presentation. Could be better with fresh vegetables too.

No one would eat more than a polite bite or two of this side dish. I left out the cognac (which IS brandy, by the way as children were eating it -- or at least I planned on them eating it -- they didn't actually put it in their mouth. I'd skip this one, friends.

Much better than the "traditional" casserole. I used brandy instead of congac and white onions as opposed to red. Everybody loved it and I was even asked for the recipe.
