I really like the coffee idea cause recently i found that one of the ingredients of japanese curry that i love is instant coffee , who could have guessed ?
And in this recipe it makes a difference when you put just a little coffee, no one can taste coffee in it but it gives the gravy a kick , and nicer color as well . Thanks for the recipe

I wanted to try this recipe so we had gravy with some meat we had, I read the reviews and made it without the coffee and it was really good. I am going to try it with chicken broth tonight to have with leftover turkey and potatoes (I don't have turkey gravy or else I would use that also minus the coffee.

These mashed potatoes are creamy. We've had them both for Christmas and Easter and everyone loved them.

I'm not sure why that person keeps saying that there is only a "hint" of coffee flavor in the gravy. We thought it was OVERPOWERING. Coffee was all you could taste.

Making mashed potatoes and gravy from scratch like this is just too much work. I bought some "spuds in a tub" and added some goat cheese after I microwaved them. I added a Tablespoon of espresso powder to a jar of preprared gravy (if you only use a teaspoonj you'll never even taste it. The subtle hint of coffee was nice, but I think it would go better with another kind of cheese. The potatoes and gravy together weren't that good.

I should have checked the reviews before making this one. Everyone is right, it's just a hideous combination of otherwise good ingredients.

The gravy was beyond gross and I didnt think it went with the goat cheese potatoes. What was the point of using the cheese if you use the gravy. Dont you want to taste the cheese? Honestly the gravy was not edible. By the way, add the potatoes back to the hot pan other wise you will have watery potatoes. I guess the potatoes get a 3 and the gravy minus stars.
