OK, so a friend told us to try this after watching an episode of SL. What a BAD choice. The steak was ruined and the chocolate merlot sauce was hideous. It was better to pour on the driveway to fill in potholes, than to put on food. Not good at all.

I didn't bother with the taco seasoning on the steak (I'm a purist but figured the sauce was worth a shot. Some good quality chocolate and a decent bottle of merlot ought to make the difference, right? Boy, was I wrong. The concept is good, but the reality was terrible. Too much onion, too much chocolate. Maybe amping up the merlot and scaling back the chocolate by a factor of 2 or 3, and you'd have something worth talking about. Like this? I'm gonna have to advise you to stay far away.

The taco seasoning on the steak was terrible -- a big mistake. The sauce is just gross. Put it at that.

I made this sauce for a romantic dinner and it was actually a hit with my boyfriend. Personally, I didn't like it as much due to the heat and the fact that I prefer my steaks without sauce. If you're debating whether to make it...it's worth trying. However, I suggest that you serve it on the side. Despite whether you actually like it or not...you have to admit that it at least sounds sexy!

I am at a loss for words to describe how incredibly bad the "chocolate merlot sauce" was. The steak was really funky tasting to begin with (by the way, a quarter cup of taco seasoning is twice as much as you need but when you top it off with that nasty, nasty tasting sauce you have something truly horrifying.

Never thought Chocalte and Beef would go well together. I will make this again.

Mmmm... red wine, chocolate chips, onion soup mix... how bad could that be?? Trust me... it's really REALLY bad.
