These were just gross! I made the dough the night before figuring that the sticky slimy mess would harden overnight. It did, although when I baked them I too came out with a flat greasy mess. Being that it was Easter, nothing was open so I had to try and make a different dessert with what was left in my pantry. Thanks Sandra for ruining my Easter dessert. This was not the only recipe of yours that has failed miserably. Perhaps Sandra, you should be an interior designer instead of a chef on the food network since more goes into the decoration of your sets than making a recipes that work and taste good.

prepared this dough prior to reading these reviews. I planned on letting the dough refrigerate overnight. I was eager to make this recipe so to calm me down i figured I'd find the video for it and watch it. I came to this page and began reading the reviews. Afterwards I quickly grabbed my two batches from the refrigerator and began slicing 1/2 inch slices. I took a slice from both batches. Before going on I should say, while I made the first batch everything was ok. During the making of the second, I couldnt remember my count on 1/4 cup measures for the flour. I didn't know if I put the last of three 1/4 cups of flour in (turns out I think I had so I put in another. This dough was much stiffer (not by much and firmer than the first. I test baked 2 cookies, one from each batch, and to my surprise both batches baked great!. I guess the ony advice I could give is maybe add 1/4cup more flour for those whose was runny, and give plenty space between ,for those whose ran together.

It was all good till I put the logs in the refrigerator. I baked one half of the log and cut the slices the way they looked on the show and as mentioned in the recipe...1/2 inch thick but the cookies came out as flat as a chip!!! I thought I should cut them thicker and this time I did cut them way thicker and it came out a little better but not like the way they looked on TV...they were v flaky and I must say the show was misleading :( I thought the colored sugar n refrigerating the dough were cool ideas but am now totally disappointed!!!! Sorry Sandra!!

What a disappointment, I made them a half inch and the first 2 cookies sheets turned into a huge blob that I threw away.
The 2nd batch I made much smaller which worked okay.
I thought the recipe should have a egg.

I was excited about making these cookies. They looked so good on the show. After reading the reviews, I have decided that I will not make them. I am wondering if Food Network reads the reviews? They should notice that there is a problem and offer a solution because their future depands on it. By the way - does anyone have any recipe suggestions for the lemons that I bought?

I read the comments before making these and am very glad I did! I added an egg to the mixture. It was very hard to form in a log becuause of all the butter, but I managed to do it using wax paper. I must admit, I didn't have high hopes for this one. I let it stay in the fridge over night and sliced/sugared them in the morning and baked them. Since they are pretty thick cuts, I put two cookies per row on my sheet pan. They made large cookies and several of them touched. Other than the 'squoval' shape of the cookies, they were really good. I doubt if I make them again though....I don't need giant sized cookies! I love watching Sandra and think her recipes are very practical and fun, but for the most part, the several I have tried always miss the mark. I'll definately keep watching, but may not make anything from the show anymore.

I wish I also would have read the reviews first. The dough was NOT dough it was a soft mushy mess! UGH! Now I have to start over and frustrated about the wasted ingredients!

I was so excited to make these after seeing her make them on TV. Told everyone I'd be bringing them in to church tomorrow morning. Made the colored sugar...refrigerated the dough for hours...ended up with the first pan as one big flat sticky mess like a pancake flowing over the sides of the pan into the bottom of my oven. I am throwing away the rest of the nice little sugar dipped raw dough rounds instead of baking them....ohhhhhhh so disappointed. :(

I have been baking for years and have come across many sugar cookie recipes, yet nothing quite as bad as these! When watching the segment on my DVR I thought I missed an ingredient. I have baked these twice now with the same turnout, crisp, chewy, sticky and they all baked together! Just plain bad! So much for a cookie that looks like the picture in the segment on T.V. That's what I call re-touching a photo! I do not suggest you try these, it is 100% cheaper to buy them then bake this disaster!

Did not turn out like the show. They were very sticky after being in the refrigerator 3 hours so I froze them another 3 hours and still messy. When I baked them they came our like flat cake cookies but nasty.
