These cookes are delicious. I've baked several batches for Easter. This recipe worked great for me, with no ingredient alterations. The only thing different that I did do was use store bought sprinkles for the cookies. Suggestions...remember that it says 1/2 thick rounds, which is pretty thick!
I use parchment paper on light colored cookie sheets to prevent crisping. My oven runs "hot" so I baked at 325 degrees. When sugar cookies start to "brown" their overcooked...they should be more yellow or slightly golden to prevent crunchy cookies. Lastly, if you're having issues with the lemons, substitue a teaspoon of lemon extract instead of fresh lemon all together.

I've got agree with the majority of the other reviews. Followed the recipe exactly and got a panful of crisp, stuck together in one solid mass cookies. I am trying again and will add and egg and 1/4 c flour. Could part of the problem be the amount of lemon juice? "The juice of one lemon" can be vastly different depending on the lemon!

I gave this recipe two stars for the taste and the fun idea of coloring the sugar. The dough was very good, I loved the addition of lemon. However, baking this cookie was a disaster. They spread everywhere and I was left with a very thin, crispy, crumbly cookies. I made two batches and will work with the second batch to see if I can fix it. Otherwise I would consider this a waste of ingredients and time.

Oh wow my experience is totally different!! My cookies are perfect. It?s true that at the beginning I was worried because the dough was a little all over the place, but I did what she said, shaped it like a log and wrapped in plastic paper for approximately 3 hours. They are delicious and very pretty!!!! Everybody in my house and the office love them. Thank you Sandra!!

I added an egg. All I'm getting is a great big mess. What is the deal with this recipe? Don't they test these things beforehand? This was a total waste of time. If you watched the show, she had a nice log that she just sliced up into perfect rounds. They didn't slice well either. The dough was coming apart and I was trying to reshape them as they were melting in my hands. AWFUL.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I wasted my money on this. I knew that it probably needed an egg, but the recipe did not call for one. I mixed up 2 batches...I just threw them all away...what a waste.

I'm so glad I read the reviews before making these cookies. The recipe is missing an egg. Make the correction and the cookies are out of this world.

Oh, I wish I had read the reviews first. They looked so good and easy on tv... mine came out like every other review. Yuck... what a waste of money and to think I made them to save money.I am glad I learned how to make colored sugar.
