I love Sandra Lee's recipies. This was truly a dissapointment. The roux was nice and smooth and I should have stopped there and ate the macaroni with the velvety cheese. Half hour in the oven was way too long and dried it out to a crisp. Also---It was all BREAD CRUMBS--that sucked the moisture out. 1/3 of the bread crumbs is all it needs and Maybe 10 MINS in oven to brown.
I will try this again with adaptations---This recipe needs to be FIXED by food network.

I've read and re-read this recipe and no where does it say when and where to add the Cheddar cheese. I watched the episode so I know but others may not. This came out very dry. I like the recipe but next time, I will double the cheese sauce and maybe bake it for 20 min instead of 30.

I don't understrand the low reviews, I thought this recipe is good. To the person who said the Mac n cheese was gritty you obviously didn't cook your roux properly. I did not cook this exact I used veggie elbows (healthier, added cauliflower florets, lowered the paprika and to the top a long w the crumb top I sprinkled fried onions from the can. It was very tasty and kids and hubby enjoyed it.

This recipe was so easy, I watched her make it on the show and memorized it easily. A few substitutions I made, just because I didn't have all the proper ingredients: I used seasoned breadcrumbs and instead of paprika I used Old Bay. And I only used about half of the breadcrumb mixture. It was delicious. This is a lot of food for the cost of making it. I will definitely make this again.

This is a pretty good mac and cheese recipe...sauce was perfect. Only problem with recipe is it is missing adding the cheddar to the sauce mix. I did that and it came out great. A little heavy on the crumb topping but overall a solid dish. Still not THE perfect mac and cheese recipe I've been searching for!

I made this recipe for my family for Thanksgiving. They all loved it. The only negative comment was that is had a little too much paprika. I was ask to make it again.

This was absolutely horrible. I saw the show and wrote down the ingredients as she went along. The sauce was anything but smooth... it was "gritty" and gross. Sorry, but a box of mac and cheese is better than this.

This was horrible. I don't know what I did wrong. I followed the show receipe so didn't have the cheese error. My husband called it sandy noodles. Sauce had no flavor.

i didnt notice that the cheddar was missing untill AFTER i had put it in the oven.. but thankfully i accidentaly didnt even put the whole 8oz in the sauce mix either i had left it in the bread crumbs.
also i used only one cup of milk and sence there were no instructions for cheddar i just put that on top before cooking too.. and im eating it now and it taste GREAT! it was quick and easy and didnt have to use many dishes. this is my kind of meal
