This recipe is easy, tasty and a hit at potlucks and picnics. I don't usually care for baked beans but I love this recipe, as does my family. I use the mesquite maranade since I could not find a mesquite grilling sauce at my regular grocery store-

We really enjoyed the flavors. I did not find them to greasy, I baked them for the 45 minutes, then put them under the broiler.

Alot of canned & processed foods used in this receipe. When I saw the receipe I got real excited. The reason I am confused is that I make my barbecue sauce from mesquite beans & the only way you can eat these beans is to make your own barbecue sauce or grind them into flour. This is really not funny but if you ate these beans You wouldnt have a tooth in your head becase are like little stones.. Just wanted to give You a little input.

The flavors in this recipe are awesome. My family will have this side dish again, and again. After reading the other reviews, I decided not to add the bacon on top, and believe the recipe is just as good without it.

I love baked beans and this is by far the best baked bean recipe I have every tried. If you don't want grease in your beans, then you shouldn't make this recipe. Baked beans are supposed to be sweet and greasy.

These were not good tasting and were very greasy. Rachel Ray's "Baked Beans with Bacon and Red Onions" are far superior if you're looking for a good baked bean recipe.

I had high hopes for this but the bacon on top ruined it. It left the whole thing a greasy mess. Maybe will try again omitting that step and using already rendered bacon instead of the bacon bits.

I make these baked beans everytime I cook-out or go to a potluck and my family and friends rave! They cannot get over the rich smokiness. These beans are even better the next day. Absolutely delicious!!!

We loved these beans but they were a little greasy so used paper towels after cooking to soak up excess, next time will cook bacon somewhat before baking. Couldn't find mesquite grilling sauce so used barbeque sauce also used maple flavored bacon. They were sweet but that's what bbq beans are all about!! yummy

This was my first go at a SL recipe. These beans were great, and were a big hit at our party full of Southern guests, all of whom claim to be 'baked bean experts.' Will definately make this one again.
