Some friends had us over for dinner last night and served this salad. It was wonderful...not at all waxy or odd textured like some of the other reviews. She did use Ghiradelli chocolate b/c it melts better. Maybe that was the problem with some of the other attempts. It was delicious. Even my husband who does not like anything sweet loved it! She did use spinach instead of green to help stand up to the dressing being a little warm. Wonderful dressing and I can't wait to make this myself!

I have made this salad several times and it's always delicious. I see that many raters have had trouble with the dressing turning grey and congeling on the salad ... have never had that experience. It always comes out just right. I follow the recipe as stated, with one exception. I usually have big chunks of baking chocolate on hand, so I use a box grater and grate 1/4 cup of the white chocolate. It is very fine and instantly melts into the dressing. Perhaps that is a key to keeping the dressing from hardening. Such a great salad ... I'll make again and again!

Have made this several times with consistent rave reviews. The sugar offers nice balance with the champagne vinegar. I make the dressing last minute - maybe living in Florida, I don't have problems with it congealing (Maybe try it for $th of July and not Valentine's day

I love this recipe. I have served this salad at office pot lucks, family reunions, and parties and the bowl is always empty. Yes, the dressing is sweet (it is served over fruit. I do fill the whole bowl with the salad and oftetimes I put about half the dressing on - leaving the rest at the side for those who want to use it. I put cashews on the salad as well. It is delicious!

We made this salad for a 'chocolate' theme dinner with some friends. It was a big hit. The fruit with the sweet and tart dressing was a nice blend of flavors. We did mess up and discarded the mandarin orange juice, so we used some fresh squeezed oj instead. The only thing I would recommend would be to open all the windows when cooking the vinegar! I'll definitely make this one again!!!

This salad as refreshing and the dressing was delicious, I thought it was well balanced.. not too sure how the low raters got a bad dressing, mine was delicious and stayed the right consistency. I make this as much as possible :

The dressing "hardened" into a greasy opaque state that reminded us of Crisco. Really disgusting.

Awesome salad and the dressing was a huge hit with my friends at a recent dinner party.

I did make a small substitution or two - i didn't have champagne vinegar - so i used a basil flavored vinegar i had on hand - since i'm also watching my calories - i substituted splenda for the sugar -

    definitely a 5 star recipe!!!
