I seen it spelled Expresso at the local coffee shop. We thought thesse were dry but I'll take your advise and use bread dough instead next time. Mebbe raspberries too. Thx!!

would be perfect for her strawberry shortcake recipe!! They definitely need A LOT of sauce, since they are so dry.

I think they came out so dry because they didn't cook in a loaf, which ensures moist slices of scone. I agree that her other more traditional recipe is much better -- you can easily adjust it by adding chocolate chips and coffee to it.

Scones are correctly shaped the way Sara did it the first time (with rosewater: in loaves. These are some kind of biscuit knock-off. Dry and only fit for dunking in some kind of liquid.

Scones are shaped exactly the way Sandra did them. I have made them for years from different recipes. This wasn't bad. I think I would have prefered making them from scratch...lighter texture, but if you are short on time these are nice and the kids love them and they are semi-homemade!

First off..scones are NOT shaped into loaf shapes as one reviewer noted. This is a quick and easy recipe that's full of flavor. Just because these recipes are "semi homemade", you do need some experience of cooking and/or baking or else even these recipes will seem complicated. I am a very experienced cook and baker and these recipes present absolutely no challenge. However, they are quick, easy and flavorfull and sometimes that's all you are looking for.
